Re: Drones
One is a semi autonomous Vehicle used in war , with emphasis on autonomous. But I rapidly see the line blurring into one huge graduated shade of gray. The predator drone (I think it is called) still has a human pilot. I really don't see the value of machines that kill people autonomously. Voice: We...

Re: They Are Starting A War On Alcohol
How long do you want to live? Is excessive alcahol consumption worse than excessive bungie jumping? Whatever floats your boat.

Re: Cancer Again
I think cocaine and alcohol are better drugs. it was a conspiracy to remove them from the shelves.
Imagine the cancer free world we would have if cokeacola was still full of our friend cocaine?

Re: Drones
Drones have unfortunately mixed meanings with model aircraft. they will only become more sophisticated. Where did the line between model RC aircraft and Drone become apparent?

Hi hanelyp, hanelyp wrote:As I understand it you need resonance or collisions (aka electrical resistance) for RF/microwave heating.
Do you suppose it would be possible to heat a plasma with dielectric heating if that makes any sense. Like a plasma between two plates that alternate in charge?

Re: microwave heating
Microwaves and mhz don't go together. 10 mhz is not a microwave signal.

Re: microwave heating
the gyrotrons in ITER are supposed to operate at around 170 ghz, which is a 1000 times higher than their gyrofrequency at 17 teslas...maybe it can work as a harmonic frequency?

Re: Bill Gates Sponsoring Palladium-Based LENR Technology
With hot fusion we know pretty well why it isn't practical, or at least we understand what is going on inside those machines to a fairly good degree. If they don't know what is going on inside a LENR device, then how will they ever hope to improve it, stabilize it, etc. If there are low energy react...

Re: tokamak question
Natural torus shaped (and rotating?) plasma. Perhaps. Some ball lightning has appears as a torus. smoke rings in fires, and atom bombs. Some magnetic loops on the sun come close to a closed torus. I don't know how similar the magnetic fields would be. Dan Tibbets Although if you notice, those examp...

Re: Bill Gates Sponsoring Palladium-Based LENR Technology
On the other hand, isn't it easier to get the anomalies that spur this research with palladium than nickel or other stuff? It would make sense to get a small lab to reliably reproduce such, then work out what exactly is happening, THEN start messing with nickel and cheaper materials and such. What ...

Re: tokamak question
I still don't understand yet why the tokamak has to be so huge though. Could the size be decreased if the miracle 100 tesla magnet came along? My understanding is it has to do with turbulence, related to unfavorable magnetic intensity profiles, and more severe as beta climbs. Without turbulence pla...

Re: microwave heating
If the microwave is close to the cyclotron frequency of a charged particle in a magnetic field it couples in resonance and can heat it easily. Off resonance the push is likely to alternate increasing and decreasing particle energy, and depends on thermalizing collisions for net heating. Hi Hanelyp,...
