Re: Mach Effect progress

IIRC there was at least one experiment with a centrifuge. I don't remember any details. Lower signal should be matched by lower noise floor if done right, but I don't have enough understanding to tell if it would work. I do know that they are running well below what they'd like to run at, but haven'...

Re: Mach Effect progress

Complicated thing about these is that you NEED vibration to get thrust. The engineering there is a great promise, but also a great problem. It's also absurdly easy to rule out though, I thought a basic part of their testing was running the stack without charging the caps, a vibration driven signal w...

Re: We lost so many members :(

I think some diversification would be good. Joe is really the one to decide, but I enjoyed having good conversations about other stuff. IIRC this is where I discovered Mach effect.

Since here slowed down I've pondered where to find a good general science board.

Physics is imaginary

Imaginary numbers are apparently necessary. How does this play with plasma physics?

Re: Polywell: "Final nail?"

This is the one I posted about a while back. It didn't look like it was as conclusive as the authors thought, but I didn't get any answers then.

Re: I Have Been Occupied

Glad you're doing all right.

I'm just waiting for a response on my other thread. I'm not enough of a physicist to understand the technical papers.

Re: Diamonds turn nuclear waste into nuclear batteries

Unfortunately even without a reactor, you're probably still going to need at least one nuclear certified person on board, and probably all the paperwork related to having a reactor, aside from the greenie opposition.

And you need a source of strontium.

Re: Diamonds turn nuclear waste into nuclear batteries

What's the electron production and energy from carbon 14? That'll give a few numbers.

While I've seen some serious thread drift/hijack on here, this is a bit much.

New paper referenced on wikipedia

https://ses.library.usyd.edu.au/handle/2123/21070 Probably couldn't understand this if I did read it. It was pointed out on another board as a reference on wikipedia though, assuming density issues mean a Polywell couldn't actually work. I'm really not inferring that directly, especially since info ...

Re: Wormhole question

To expand, for a wormhole, Woodward's book suggests a sphere with Mach effect "resonators(for lack of a better word)" on it. Each one is deiven so the capacitors inside undergo Mach effect fluctuations to produce nagative mass in the capacitors. Right? So the capacitors are now repelling the regular...

Wormhole question

Assuming the negatove mass produced by exotic matter in something like a mach effect device produces a sort of negative gravity, how many Gs wouod it take to produce a wormhole/warp field, and do we have materials tuat cam hold up to it?

Re: Dark matter theories

As far as my knowledge goes, there is no known object in the solar system that spins faster than their matter "tension strength" allows to. So I don't really get why he need to hypothesize that there must be "exotic material cores" in the center of such objects to justify something that is already ...

Re: 3D Printed Nuclear Reactor

I had a setting where peolple wanted to build heavy lifters discretely. Since the second stages would continue to be used in space and they weremt as concerned about being sued, an NTR would suit there purposes well. I was thinking a monolithic SLS silicon carbide build for the core. Carbon dioxide ...
