Re: 31,000 scientists say global warming is a hoax

Sorry I was so overwhelmed by this revelation that I couldn't stop farting.
That's Tea Party 'News' Network. How could I question.....

Re: EM Drive

I must have missed something here. The vapor pressure of copper is way down in the UHV range even at 500C. Are they talking about outgassing due to electroformed copper or is this just bull pulled out of the quantum vacuum?

Re: EMC2 has published a polywell preprint on arXiv

It seems it would require a stronger magnetic field to channel the alphas than to contain the fusion plasma due to a KE an order of magnitude or so higher. I am thinking that the alpha flux has a random distribution at least as it is created. We are also dealing will a potential of 2 mv or so on any...

Re: EMC2 has published a polywell preprint on arXiv

The first wall problem for DT and the production of Tritium are known to be difficult engineering problems with fusion systems. I have often wondered how a large flux of high energy alphas would be handled in this geometry. Their interaction with the magnet housing and the coils themselves would mak...

A close match would be a wire seal flange with an OD of 27.125" . Kurt Lesker and Norcal list them as having 40 bolt holes.

The view ports on the chamber have a standard conflat arangement and are 6" OD. Scale from there and you get a 24" cluster flange. The smaller 6 bolt flanges are 2.75" OD

Using 8.7 Mev per Boron 11 atom X 1.6022E-19 joules/ev you get 13.93914E-13 joules/B. 100 Meg joules/Hr(3.6E11) over 13.93914E-13 gives 2.58E23 boron atoms/Hr. Division by 6.02E23 atoms/mole gives .428 moles or 4.714 gms/Hr ( 113.136 gms/day). A pain to think about this way but a check on decimal po...

Typo you say? NBF just said the Dragon has a new cat smell. That's a typo. KW/MW ia a late night senior moment. Burn % etc is important for sure but the operational pressure is the real driver as far as the pumping system goes. Sorry that I don't know this but it seems that anything over e-7 Atm and...

Now that the numbers for boron consumption have been 'refined' I was wondering what pressure range the plasma chamber can operate at. This should give some idea as to how a steady state system's vacuum system will have to be configured. It seems to me that electron confinement would be hampered by a...

Calculated by moles. 8E6 ev x9.5E4 coulombs/mole gives 760E9 joules/mole of Boron 11. So a100KW plant would need to burn about 5 gms/hr. This makes the vacuum pumps a bit smaller. Now I can get back to sleep.

chaper 6 vacuum pumping system

5kg of boron/hr for 100meg's ! I was wondering what pressure this thing may run at. Hydrogen and helium are real bears to pump. At 1 micron pressure you are looking at a million or two liters a second pump speed. One big diffusion pump! The backing pumps would be interesting also as turbo and diffus...
