LK-99

How are we not already talking about LK-99?

It's even on-topic, to some extent, since I would imagine (if it proves real) it would make a lot of things in polywell fusion (and perhaps other fusion approaches) much easier.

Collective brains of talk-polywell, go!

Re: Is the Big Bang theory really in trouble?

Interesting. I agree it does seem like there's a lot of dogma at play. Of course sometimes the dogma is correct. Though it still shouldn't be dogmatic about it. I believe it will all work out in the end. In this case, I know of at least two ways that current dogma might all come crashing down: 1. Mo...

Is the Big Bang theory really in trouble?

I just read through this post: The Big Bang Didn't Happen . It's by Eric Lerner, who has been beating this drum for years. I know, I know, we don't tend to give Lerner a lot of credence around here. But we should judge an argument on its merits, not on who's saying it. So what's new? The James Webb ...

Avalanche Energy

What do you all think of this?

https://www.geekwire.com/2022/blue-orig ... ion-energy

Details on their approach are pretty thin, in this article at least. Is this essentially a Polywell, or something different?

Re: Mach Effect progress

Yep, this looks like another thruster powered by snake oil. They claim "development programs for customers starting Q2 2022," which would be about now. It should be fun to watch this unfold. (Or, the really have found an exploit in the laws of physics and will be able to wear their Nobel prizes whil...

Re: NASA reports on something called lattice confinement fusion

I read that IEEE article today. It made me wonder: could a similar lattice-confinement, electron-screening trick be done with hydrogen/boron? We all know aneutronic fusion is much easier to get power out of, and produces much less radioactive unpleasantness. So it seems worth looking into.

Re: We lost so many members :(

Thanks all for your input. It costs me very little to keep the board running, so I'm happy to continue doing so as long as anyone is finding it of interest. And who knows... maybe polywell research itself will roar back to life one day, and we'll be the site that kept the torch lit this whole time. :D

Re: We lost so many members :(

Hi all! Thanks for your interest, and thanks to @Giorgio for pinging me about it. When I founded the board, the intent was to be focused on Polywell fusion. I also expected that it would either pan out or prove to be unworkable within a few years of that time. That was... a long time ago. But since ...

Re: Apologies for the long down time

Just to follow up: DreamHost informed me this week that it would soon be disabling PHP 5.6, forcing an upgrade. Fortunately we managed to do this, and I think we're all up and running again on the latest version of phpBB.

If you spot any weirdness or misbehavior, please let me know.

Apologies for the long down time

It's been a long few months. In case anyone's curious: 1. Dreamhost (our hosting provider) provides "one-click installs" for things like phpBB, with automatic upgrades! 2. But they appear to think (incorrectly) that the latest version of phpBB is 3.0.13. (It's not.) 3. In January, automatically upgr...

Re: EMC2 news

The address of the whole ENN Group is accessible at http://www.enn.cn/wps/portal/enn.en , but I have not been able to locate the symposium site from there. Maybe the third option will work out and the missing site will again be accessible on the first of October? Apparently so; it's accessible now....
