What does SNF mean?
As for our waste fuel rods do you see any paracical use whatsoever in a MSR of any type?

Follow up question to "For the Greens"
Quick background: A couple pages in and my layman self was asking about the Elysium Molten Salt Reactor concept. I forgot to cut to the chase by asking what you all think a MSR fleet would look like. The goals would be to 1. Close the fuel cycle. 2. "Burn up" our waste fuel. What configuration(s) wo...

Re: Scam or legit?
Sounds like a scam. I have no expertise in fusion obviously. Just going off the presentation.

Re: For the "Greens"
With that in mind would you guys post what your profession, education and experience are. I want to post this thread to Twitter to hammer home that point. I wish you good luck for the effort, but from my past experience with those type of people it will be hard to even make them understand that the...

Re: For the "Greens"
Check the attachment. The colored bar segments was from M&W and the grey was the info on buffering that I added. It gives quite a different truth, but convincing the laymen about it is a whole odyssey. I still remember in a dinner few years ago arguing for one hour with two green brain ladies that ...

Re: For the "Greens"
Yeah I keep the auto spell off. It's a real pain. According to this lady, who seems to attempt to be neutral, the "levelized" cost of nuke plants is five times that of wind or solar. First thing. What is levelized cost? Second thing. Is she correct? If so I wonder if that is the U.S. building one of...

Re: For the "Greens"
I should mention that I am a layman and not an engineer or a scientist.
In layman's terms and regarding your post a couple posts back: Are you saying the Elysium concept would be best implemented in conjunction with other MSR, what is the word, "configurarions"?

Re: For the "Greens"
Ok if I follow this technical-ese then, when considering the timescales, we are better off waiting for commercial fusion rather than develop any MSR?

Re: For the "Greens"
Somebody mentioned gen 4 fission. To me that would be a good pragmatic way forward until commercial fusion is available. For the U.S. and other countries that already have fission plants the Elysium MSR makes the most sense to me. It's a "waste" burner and would be made of stainless. Seems the easie...

Re: For the "Greens"
I see the article intro says that nuclear cannot be implemented in time to make a significant CO2 reduction. Is that based on construction times within the U.S.?
Would a U.S. version of France's Messimer Plan have an impact?

For the "Greens"
Can anyone point me to one or more analyses of CO2 reduction/dollar comparison of various energy tech? I want to give links to the "greens" when they assert that wind and solar are top dogs for CO2 reduction. I have seen people break it down before and it points to nuclear fission (barring a fusion ...

Fusion News
Not sure if you all already know about this. If so pardon the redundant post. The Facebook fusion page re posts these reports that are on YouTube. You Tube algorithimically demotes these and they are hard to find there.

Re: MIT claim they will build the SPARC
No. The proper way to do this is expand equality of opportunity through reforming the public school system, putting the kaibash on the university tuition price gouging and so on. DEI, race quotas, affirmative action and the like are a tacit admission of the utter failure and or lack of will to commm...
