Hi guys, Its been a while since ive posted here. Anyway, HSP is atm being negotiated with DARPA. A group of us wrote the grant on google docs. Right now me and Jerry are doing the initial negotiation through maui makers, our local hackerspace. You can join our mailing list, we are a small group with...

@cksantos. I think you've got the right take. Semi closed loop organic farming is where the best understanding lies. From this knowledge base will spring a true closed loop. It is an interesting hobby. But it will not sweep the nation unless it lowers prices. However, learning something is good. He...

Commercial closed loop is far off but back yard semi closed loop is getting more and more popular, its only a matter of time before it moves into the commercial arena. I do recirculating aquaponics with chickens over the top combined with vermi-composting, black fly larvae, and duck weed blended tog...

I think most people don't consider automotive transport to be a niche application for liquid fuels. A barrel of oil yields these refined products (percent of barrel): 47% gasoline for use in automobiles 23% heating oil and diesel fuel 18% other products, which includes petrochemical feedstock-produ...

I think this ties into another implication for the social environment. I think that, in general, people don't trust technology, and view it as a force for evil in the world. I think that the technology=evil is an older generation thing. Because the younger generation is convinced that technology ca...

Ahhhh I see so we can still drive cars, but the fuel is made from air. I was just thinking about it from the battery perspective too, with A123's new batts electric cars probably aren't that far off, and they can just plug in at home. We need polywell here in hawaii, I pay 40 cents per kilowatt/h i...

Why would you? What folks have just said is that the danger from DU is chemical, not radiological. And chemical weapons are banned. Ahh I see. So radiological weapons are not mentioned in international law? Actually the casing on most nukes is made from Uranium and depleted Uranium since it's a won...

I doubt polywell will *directly* impact food production-- however it will lead likely to a reduction in costs for transport, fertilizer, and storage (refrigeration) which will lead to a reduction in end point prices. BUT, even today, in most cases when we see a famine or price spikes, the cause is ...

Getting back to the original topic, I've been thinking some more, and I could definitely see a hybrid approach in areas where there is never enough water (CA, NM, AZ, NV, Middle East, North Africa, etc). You already mentioned AWGs being used in Saudi Arabia, I'm just extending the idea, because che...

And thus the existence of building codes. Insurance inspectors (UL) are more reliable than government inspectors. BTW if government inspectors screw up does their company go bankrupt? How about real mandatory prison sentences for accidents and minor mistakes, and firing squads for heinous treason b...

Also, directing water to specific areas- like through a window, or under the rafters is often necessary. Dumping from above may be very inefficient. Ok so the helotanker transfers the water to the fire truck and goes for wore while the tanker feeds the fire hoses. Dudes, use your imaginations! This...
