Re: Drones

I fear we shall see much more electronically governed nanny-state oversight of our behavior. That is necessarily a requirement of high air traffic. I don't think anyone believes the flying cars will be human directed. There may be overrides, but people will not generally be free to direct their car...

Re: 85 F-35'S now in service

Lock-Mart lobbyists selling the F-35 for yet a new role: http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/06/01/usa-airforce-growlers-idUSL1N0YN1CC20150601 We should replace the growlers with a stealth EW countermeasures craft, so I can't complain about this application. If we fly a Growler with a Lightning wing...

Re: Police Brutality Statistics

You would think police in this country have become power mad. Sensible people think this is an example of one bad comp, doing what many bad coms are tempted to do every day. It's an example of that, and of someone who wants to make a big deal out of it. Oh, and an example of how our legal system is...

Re: Flike

How do you make that thing go forward anyway? Angling the fans back or something? What happens when you turn? Won't one fan have to run harder to compensate for loss of lift on one side? I don't honestly recall but there have been attempts at rocket packs and jet packs for many years and most of th...

Re: Flike

IIRC, the stats on the SoloTrek were pretty good--over 300MPH is I recall. The real difference was that it's internal combustion, so it could fly for half hour or so and had a substantial range--something you won't get with electric motors until we have an amazing breakthrough with batteries. If Ral...

I have no idea. I wasn't aware of the Angara program. I may have seen it before but I don't track Russian, Chinese and Indian developments the way I should. Just so much time in a day.

Re: Flike

That is a very cool concept, but there are three issues with both these as I see it. First is these are both electric, which means they won't have the energy density to fly for more than just a few minutes. This isn't true with the drone. The larger you build, the bigger your energy storage troubles...

Proton failure diagnosed as a design flaw

"On May 29, 2015, Roskosmos announced the results of the investigation into the MexSat-1 launch failure. According to the official statement, the steering engine of the third stage failed due to excessive vibration loads, which had been caused by an increasing imbalance of the rotor in the turb...

Re: LENR Is Real

If I were in Rossi's position and wanted to see some replications done, I would certainly require an NDA/NCA before divulging any trade secret information, but I would certainly seek for people willing to do replications and be willing to work with them. This is all to Rossi's advantage if indeed he...

Re: LENR Is Real

Dr. Parkhomov has replicated Rossi's Hot cat at least once with a COP of 3.5. He could not have possibly replicated it because no specifications nor data nor a detailed explanation of the reaction medium has ever been released to allow a process replication by anyone. Hence, whatever he is doing an...

Re: They Posed A Threat - Good Shoot

Apparently the cops were shooting at each other supposedly under the impression that it was the unarmed (now dead) alleged "perps" who started the shooting. And you love it. That's the whole difference. When healthy, happy, well-adjusted people who don't use drugs read stories like this, ...

I'm not familiar with Dr. Parkhomov's credentials. Can you point us?
