Re: Cusp leakage in non-hexahedral configuration

Ahhh, so increasing the number of cusps might increase the loss, and the number of edges that approach the cusps doesn't mitigate this effect.

That makes sense. Thanks Dan!

Compressing Turbulence In ICF Devices

Just happened to stumble across this article:

http://www.pppl.gov/news/2016/03/compre ... xperiments

Seems to me this could affect the dynamics of the plasma inside a polywell device. Thoughts?

Cusp leakage in non-hexahedral configuration

Having just read the paper posted on arXiv by the Polywell team I think that electron leakage from the cusps might be reduced in the octahedral or higher-order configurations; does anyone have any insight into this? I'm kinda throwing this out there for discussion. Is the reason higher-order polygon...

Sillyness. Scientists aren't in the business of making up false data in order to get paid, and the ones who are get exposed and discredited. Conspiracy theories are the operation of human pattern recognition instincts modulated by the desire not to believe something the human in question doesn't lik...

Re: LIGO: Gravity Waves detected

This is why I have a problem with gravitons. There's something different about gravity. If gravity were mediated by a particle, even one moving at the speed of light, how would gravity escape a black hole at all? If light can't, why should a graviton? Actually, if you turn your argument around, you...

Re: LIGO: Gravity Waves detected

Another thought occurred to me: how does the LIGO team know that the gravity wave detection is due to the merger of two black holes, aside from the energy calculation? It seems to me that they are just picking the most likely explanation as to what most fits the expected space-time distortion and t...

Re: LIGO: Gravity Waves detected

How reliable is the above? It's as reliable as refrigerators, aircraft, or transistors. If they can detect black hole collision from so far away, can other disturbances in the gravity field be detected? Depends how big they are and how far away. Such as moving a massive object around near the detec...

Re: LIGO: Gravity Waves detected

The most important things about LIGO detecting gravity waves isn't the confirmation of gravity waves, and isn't confirmation of General Relativity Theory. Gravity waves were confirmed long ago, by Joseph Taylor, Jr., and Russell Hulse, in 1974; they received the 1993 Nobel Prize in Physics for the d...

And exactly how do you reconcile that with the start of a sentence or the headline of a post (which I do in all caps).
Ummm, so you don't care to deny my assertion?

But scientists didn't vote for phlogiston.

Lavoisier won.

When the bell jar over the burning was opened, it sucked it didn't blow. Thus, something had been consumed, not emitted. That is, oxygen, not phlogiston.

On Earth.

You're making shit up again.

The Republican-Amurcn teatraitors keep trying to make up a story about how we should have a war with Iran.

I'm totally cool with having a peace with them. It looks like they are too.

Iran Agrees to Inspections

The latest is they've invited the IAEA to Arak.

I expect the klown korps here is against it and is still making up lies about how they're faking it.
