Re: Taiwanese student under investigation for operating a fu

After watching the video, I'd say it is possible that his rig cost him US$400, but it's highly unlikely he is getting fusion reactions in measurable quantities. The video looks like his grids are hopelessly dirty too.

Re: Dr. Park to speak at UW-Madison

One of the problems I think is very clear once you notice it. That is the team. In order to do this work you can't go to the local 401 and hire an electrician, and then get another one the week after. It is specialized work with specialized experience. And the only guys who really have it are those...

Re: 3D model of the Navy Machine on YouTube

The "big stainless steel drum with a yellow end" is on WB8, not the machine in the video.

Re: Dr. Park to speak at UW-Madison

And the Navy wouldn't put a tokamak on a destroyer, there's just no way - the tokamak is too big and has too much radiation. A destroyer needs pB11 otherwise they can't float the shielding.

Re: Dr. Park to speak at UW-Madison

Consider this article about how they restored funding to the Alcator C-Mod tokamak program at MIT: http://www.bostonglobe.com/news/nation/2014/06/07/mit-used-lobbying-influence-restore-nuclear-fusion-dream-after-white-house-sought-stop-funding/T5Q9esYqbZsxIbXUpnEHFN/story.html I'm sure the MIT crew ...

Re: Dr. Park to speak at UW-Madison

1) Dr. Park is interested in trying to form the potential well as the next step in the research program. This clarifies things. They have either the potential well (from earlier machines' results) or wiffleball (from this machine), but getting both together hasn't happened yet. He said they've only...

Re: EMC2 has published a polywell preprint on arXiv

The KE of the electrons of somewhere between 2 and 7 KeV implies speed of eg: 5,000,000 M/s [....] This is based on a given speed for a 10 KeV electron of 10 million M/s. I get 50,000,000 m/s for a 7 keV electron and 59,000,000 m/s for 10 keV. That makes a 7ns transit for a 7keV electron across a d...

Re: EMC2 has published a polywell preprint on arXiv

Roger Fox [...] seems to think that they had to go to this smaller device in order to have the ratio of E-gun power to machine size that they needed.... The E-gun power in the smaller device is miniscule compared to the plasma sources. It works like a diagnostic, only providing enough high-energy e...
