Bezos invested in this?!

Acoustically driven fusion? http://www.generalfusion.com/index.html The Magnetized Target Fusion resembles the tokomak confinement principle. Dont really see how it differs-except they are injecting a toroidal plasma and then squeezing it some more with mechanical leverage. Mechanical leverage of pi...

on the shape of the core

I so appreciate the simulations of Indrek, D.Tibbets and others who have helped me visualize the probability distribution of the electrons that are in the core. Never mind where the positive ions are, I assume they are in a glob in the middle. But when you think about what is being achieved, it is l...

thank you for your considered reply. i guess the devil is in the details. a little research before opening my mouth (or loosing my typing fingers on the world) would have revealed that the index of refraction for xrays for all materials is ~1.(usually slightly less than 1!) So now we are looking at ...

why is it so hard to reflect xrays? Think of light, if you were not allowed to use mirrors, how could you bring light back to its source? use a mass of fiberoptic bundles and curl them back to the source. I know that xrays can be conducted by a waveguide. It's just wire. In fact, back in the '80s, T...

i clearly wasnt thinking straight. if i did that, then maybe that's the opposite of using an iron core in an electromagnet. instead of packing the field lines more tightly around the core, you'd get a bigger 'hole in the middle'. The field lines would get concentrated around the windings. Dont know ...

electromagnet design

One of the problems of the polywell is that the ions (and electrons) escape through the holes of the wiffle ball. This is a basic design flaw of using 6 magnets arranged on the faces of the cube. One solution might be to invent a nested polywell so that the 'outer polywell' has the faces of its elec...

When current is passed through a coil of conducting wire that is insulated, the aggregate magnetic field is measurable and depends on things like - how many turns in the coil and how much current is passed. Obviously the resistance of the wire causes coil failure at high temperatures as the whole th...

Also, the cnt would need an insulating coating, no? Just as raw copper wire is not as good as wire that has an enamel coating. The electrons have to go round and round. A bunch of cnt formed into a doughnut will just act like a big doughnut of copper-instant short circuit. Maybe we could genetically...
