We will see with IFT 5. Will the combined stronger tile and ablative substrate work? WWS.
Rapid design, build, test… that is their philosophy. A good one I think!

Re: Company (Quaise Energy) plans to use fusion technology to drill for geothermal
Earths heat energi content stems from thorium and uranium decay. Uranium (both 235 and 238) and thorium has a halvlife even if it counts in many billions of years. This minuscule energi evolvement adds up over a huge volyme and is what makes Earth a geologically active planet. If to much heat is ex...

Re: Company (Quaise Energy) plans to use fusion technology to drill for geothermal
I haven't heard about drilling causing earthquakes. Fracking, yes, depletion of underground water tables and oil deposits, yes. Drilling per se, not that I know. Can anyone give some examples? Unless there are examples of this, or at least a credible theory regarding a relation, I think running to ...

Great! Lets make earthquakes 100 times faster!paperburn1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 6:11 pmThe real strength behind Quaise is the fact that if it works as predicted they can drill holes 100 times faster than anyone else.

Re: Company (Quaise Energy) plans to use fusion technology to drill for geothermal
I once calculated that there was not enough geothermal flux, even at a 100% conversion efficiency, to power the world’s energy needs. So to do more, we would need to extract STORED energy. What that would do to earthquakes, I hesitate to speculate.

If the baseline data demonstrates ALL plausible external forcing functions, then mN level forces over time should be distinguishable, irrefutably.

“ In the case of copper, the highest density achievable would be about 97 density with 15 percent shrinkage, but shrinkage can be kept to under 7 percent with 10 to 12 percent porosity.” So, definitely not vacuum tight. And I don’t see anything about printing superconductors. Nitrogen (LN2) doesn’t...

Re: SpaceX News
Specifically, it was the reason for the attempt being delayed by one day. They de-stacked and swapped out the actuator (actually, all 4 I think I read). Not only not the cause of the explosion, but also the explosion probably made the issue irrelevant ;) Then again, the effectiveness of the grid fi...

Re: SpaceX News
There was an issue with an actuator for one of the grid fins. Where did you see this? I am still seeing a lot of speculation regarding the FTS triggers for both Booster and Starship. We may have to wait until SpaceX releases more information. In any event, the launch through Hot Stage had to be a g...
