It is my current opinion that our government is unfixable. Too many ideas which are destructive to good government now have too wide a following. We can only fight a gradually losing battle of self defense with it and hope some crisis eventually causes a catharsis. David Going by my experience in I...

Dr. Nebel,

This is just awesome. Please keep me updated. There are so many universities/startups in India that will be totally interested in this one.

Thanks

general answers: We don't see major issues to exporting the technology. Right now any follow-ons to the WB-7 are up in the air. We have time resolution down to the sub-microsecond range. That's pretty typical for magnetic fusion experiments. That gives resolution down to the ion inertial timescale....

Hi Dr Nebel,

I have a quick question:

If EMC2 demonstrates a significant commercialization possibility with IEC, what is the chance that it can be exported to private operators in countries such as India or China? Does the DoD prevent that?

Hopefully this is an ok question to ask!

Thanks

All this consideration of casting a shaddow to stop alpha particles is interesting, but at the end of the day it just comes down to the strategic use of placing shielding materials in the right location to block the alphas. I don't see the need for a seperate magrid. True, my theory is to shield th...

Because the problem isn't processing power, it's numerical representation. A double precision floating point in IEEE has an 11 bit exponent and I need 16 to 18 for the range of problem I'm facing. I've written software to do things like that, but it is probably better to formulate the problem in a ...

@laksindiaforfusion You can think of plasmas in lots of ways. The reason is that there is a lot going on. Each sub component is sort of independent of the others for certain time scales. So you can ignore ion motion totally for very high frequency electron motions, and you can ignore high frequency...

(you can't learn it without tutorial or documentation, but after you learn it, every other 3D modeling application seems to be horribly cumbersome in comparison with Blender).
Thats the whole issue :)

Personal reminder: Patience is a virtue :)

I have used belnder before, but it takes a LOT of work to learn and a lot more to master. Its actually used more by the game dev guys and semiprofessional animators. I guess it should be good enough for a lot of CAD at the amateur level. BRL-CAD sounds tooo hi-fi for a beginner :) Yeah.. in the end ...

 drmike: Here is another thought : for charge neutrality Nions approx = Nelectrons for D, and Nions = (1/5)Nelectrons. But boron is 11*1836 times heavier than an electron and a D is some 2*1836 times heavier than an electron... so Columb collisions would completely rock the electron but not s...

Explanation attempt Diagrams

First bear with the crude drawings (need to dig out some CAD software soon): http://desibell.org/Fusion/albums/userpics/CurrentMagridStateSmallImg.JPG This image shows one cross section of the magrid, in only one quadrant. The virtual anode is the center of the diagram, where the fusion takes place ...

Ooops, I was complaining about there not being one equations:

As everyone might know http://askmar.com/Fusion.html has all the equations neatly formated.

Should have dug in more. Too much excitement is not great fun :)

1) The inner magnets would have to be held up with something, and would have to be connected to the rest of the magnets with something, too. Bussard wanted interconnects between individual magnets to be a short as possible. Another set of magrids with interconnects just gives the electrons somethin...

[DUMB??] Design Question: Concentric polyhedral magnets

One of the main issues that the magnets would face is going to be structural artifacts due to high energy alpha collision. Which would mean that the magnet has a limited lifetime before the artifacts change the chemical and electrical properties of the magnet. here is a dumb suggestion: assuming tha...
