Re: EMC2 news

Nuclear Operations Group at BWXT, a company that is making “tristructural isotropic” fuel . I think this might spell the death song of any high dollar small fusion research/ Pebble bed fission reactors have indeed an inherent advantage in safety in respect to traditional fission reactors, but they ...

Re: EMC2 news

This paper is mainly derived from the work done in the publication of the last patent. There was indeed several intriguing ideas and proposal in that patent, unfortunately it was only a theoretical framework model and they never actually tested in a real machine.

It has been quite a long time since they published anything meaningful about their research.
A pity as it was an intriguing conceptual design.

Unfortunately it seems that their advancement speed has reduced drastically in the last couple of years.
Not sure if it depends from lack of found or if they hit a stagnant point in their technological development.

Re: Continuous Electrode IECF // NextBigFuture

How would direct energy conversion reduce cooling needs? Whenever you convert something into something else you will face efficiency losses (generally waste heat), hence reducing the steps to the conversion process will improve the general efficiency, reduce the waste heat and hence the cooling req...

The crumbling Dark Energy theory....

Is seems like the new generation of scientists is finally digging the previous generation work and assumptions about dark energy existence (and dark matter soon to follow). And (as expected), the more they dig and take measures with improved equipment, the more they discover that our universe does n...

Re: Tokamak Energy news

I did not hear that. They are starting to build their new magnets this year, but I doubt that we will see them in a tokamak this year. Upon re-listening to it I might have indeed misinterpreted their meaning when they said that they had all the material in home to build all the HTS material to buil...

Re: Tokamak Energy news

Here's a three-minute video presentation by their CEO, Jonathan Carling: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfPZqZyZeyw He says they've completed another round of funding and are very well funded going into the "end of 2019", so it's a little dated. Thanks, I was impressed when in the video they say t...

Yes, I was referencing also to him (among the others) when I mentioned that actual theories and experimental results of phenomena that would enable a warp drive like engine didn't produce any meaningful result to date.

Re: EM Drive

Not so with fusion fuel. Than I must argue that with fusion fuel we get back to square one because in the original idea of Alcubierre warp drive there was the need of this Jupiter size mass that "hopefully" would have created the warp space effect needed to propel the craft. If we remove this from ...

Re: EM Drive

They are claiming Giorgio that they don't need "Unobtanium" if by that you mean "exotic matter" to warp space. They claim using "Quark Nuggets" harvested from asteroids bred to anti-matter will give them the fuel for the drive. They are saying that according to Sonny White's work that normal mass-e...

Re: Dark matter theories

If a tiny asteroid weighs a million tons, it's going to be obvious in it's orbit and those of objects around it. Like a few other crazy theories I've seen, it's easy enough to test it's not worth mentioning without the results of the test. I believe he is referring to rapidly spinning asteroids tha...
