Re: Art Technica - Magnetic Mirror Holds Promise for Fusion
Dan has a great history of exposition here, nothing personally directed at the choice of article or the author that I can see. I enjoy lurking here and reading Dan's awesome exposition. It is also a good point, Celtic, about him possibly cross-posting here and there though. But I still like to see h...

Re: Aviation Week on the Lockheed Skunkworks CFR
Actually also if my theory of the oscillating field winding is correct about being a gridless accelerator, I can explain the reason for the third coil as well in the center of the two opposing Helmholtz coils. Its just kind of falls out so I'm getting a bit pumped if only the FEM software can prove...

Re: Aviation Week on the Lockheed Skunkworks CFR
It makes the most sense in the world to advertise D D reaction and then after the NDA is signed reveal pB11 to a potential funding source. Can't let the free market have the best until your money is already 5-10 years ahead of it. All these fusion concepts have an incentive to hide pB11 with DD prop...

Gyroelongated square bipyramid
I'm bad at searching the theory forum for this sort of thing, and this is a long shot based on a conversation I had with Wolfram Alpha (it's that kind of night).... Does anyone have a decent simulation they can try this shape in "Gyroelongated square bipyramid" or have any idea how Johnson Solids mi...

Article in Nature on carbon nanotube batteries
http://www.nature.com/nnano/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/nnano.2014.93.html Abstract: Micro-supercapacitors are promising energy storage devices that can complement or even replace batteries in miniaturized portable electronics and microelectromechanical systems. Their main limitation, however, is th...

Yeah I pushed "no" on the comment feedback. No math or sound reasoning to contradict Johan.

5 years. Looks like a polywell coil to me too.
EMC2 still holds a special place in my heart, but I can't say skunk works doesn't make me want to cheat.

Random slightly relevant fact: If a planet were just a few percentage points more water than iron than earth, 1g surface gravity is plausible for significantly bigger radii than earth and you can keep that radiation shielding life needs. If you have a planet that is mostly water to the core, radiati...
