Re: National Ignition Facility
The heart of the story of the pursuit of net power fusion based generators. I have wondered a few times if our approach to fusion energy generation suffers a similar issue. While we focus on 'slowing it down', should we not only consider letting it run at speed and figuring out how to capture the en...

Re: National Ignition Facility
I don't think we can claim Space Age until we figure out a better way to get out of the gravity well. This chemical thing is clunky and expensive (so far). SpaceX seems to be a step in the right direction with full reusability. However, we are still highly restrained for deep space access. The Energ...

Re: National Ignition Facility
Not to drive off topic, it is this movement into the next great age which does worry me a little. With each great age through history, we see a massive upheaval in the balance of power for the existing civilizations, which also manifests in war(s) as those who seek to capitalize the change, or those...

Re: LK-99
This one is very interesting, however remains in the reproducible wait and see realm. Once we get confirmed reproduction, then "Holy Cow!"

No argument there, let's see how things go with the scale up.

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
I hope the get to an operating plant in 2028. I do think there is a lot they don't know they don't know, at that puts them at risk on goals. No matter what, they are going to learn. Also, I would offer, that money flows based on progress, and investors pull out all the time when things don't go 'as ...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
This smacks of aspirational thinking. Positive intent, however lacking in feasibility, suitability, and acceptability realms when you peek under the hood. They have a longer way to go than proselytized. However, one must market to keep and gain investment. I get it.

Re: Lawaranceville E-Newsletter
Thanks for sharing Carl. I hadn't watched that yet. I have always liked the LPP approach, no matter the technical complexity at its tactical level. They are always finding more 'we didn't know we didn't knows' which, to me, is the heart of true science and advancement of the body of knowledge. One o...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
Nice to see some still making progress, while others seem to have gone quiet like TriAlpha.
It is a long slow game.

Re: EMC2 news
It does seem like things are moving again. I hope to see some good news as well. Polywell certainly has the high density plasma corner of the market. I am sure that will pay off for them somehow, and accordingly we should see some advance in plasma and fusion science. While ITER will break-even, it ...
Re: EM Drive
That is disappointing. The decision must have been tracking from a while back given no mention of this until now, and SpaceX Transporter 8 flying yesterday. I am curious to see what develops with IVO in this regard. I anticipate another Press Release to further explain and not spook investors/potent...

Re: youtube Polywell critique with response from EMC2!
Yes, suspicious indeed. It is almost like he was put up to it, and didn't even make a good job of it.
Maybe with all the movement in fusion recently, EMC2 has opportunities for their next big step. Maybe back to some more physical work. We shall see.
