Blacklight Power is claiming independent confirmation by Rowan University of dramatic excess heat derived from radically novel chemical processes. If it is commercializable as they claim, I am sorry to say their technology would make moot most envisioned Polywell applications, except perhaps spacefl...

Robust commercial high-temperature superconductor
Found at http://spectrum.ieee.org/jul08/6428: "Last Wednesday, American Superconductor officially commissioned the world's first high-temperature superconductor power-transmission cable system to be used in a commercial power grid...The system commissioned last week, part of the Long Island Power Au...

The Akron, the Macon, the ... Bussard?
If Polywell's are net Helium consumers, we're in trouble. If they are net producers, let me think: copious helium, vast amounts of heat, fuel is negligible - imagine 100 MPH superdirigibles cruising the stratosphere.

The perspective of discussion I have seen is in reference to minimizing the first wall surface area. But how about taking the opposite tack? Embrace the hot, I say! Make the magnet housings as big as the fluxes can allow. Surface area goes up with the square, but coolant volume goes up with the cube...

Effects of high energy alpha on materials
Looking around on the web I have found some discussion of the effects of high energy neutrons on materials - dislocations, embrittlement, swelling, transmutation to radioactive isotopes. Can someone say what effect comparably energetic alpha radiation has?

Something stirring - Blacklight Power
There is a potentially sensational press release from Blacklight Power that is relevant to this interest group. Blogospheric interest is starting to build. I think it's worth watching. No I am not hyping it. http://www.blacklightpower.com http://pesn.com/2008/05/29/9500481_Blacklight_commercially_re...

I'm most grateful for your reply. It's the Boron/Hydrogen process that I have been considering. One thing doesn't add up for me yet; no doubt there's still something I don't have right. It's my understanding that the magnet housings are at a much lower positive potential (KV's) than the surrounding ...

Conveying heat from the magnet housings.
Hello, all. I am trying to understand the principles of the Polywell from an unsophisticated point of view, so I hope you'll be patient with this question. I read in a message that the paths of perhaps 20 percent of high energy He ions will be obstructed by the magnet housings. Am I guessing right t...
