yes tallDave this is the exercise I am looking for So, now for the math. The WB-6, Bussard’s last experimental model, at about .15 meters in radius and .1T magnetic field strength, was estimated to produce 1e9 neutrons from a deuterium plasma, for a fusion rate of 5e8 (each fusion produces two elect...

Well if someone, anyone can explain the math on how a ten meter reaction vessel can yield 1 gigawatt of thermonuclear reactions I'd greatly appreciate it. Then maybe I could figure out on my own how much power a 10.1 meter reaction vessel could yield or a 9.9 meter vessel. Billy: I'm working on a li...

looking for an equation, where is the main FAQ for polywell?

I have heard the claim that 9 neutrons were detected in a milisecond pulse operation of a .3 meter diameter polywell and about a miliwatt of power output was achieved with a 10,000 watt power input. There is a claim of a power scaling law (imo pretty bold to call it a law yet with not a single confi...

proton boron 11 fusion / fission shielding

How much shielding would be required to protect living tissue from radiation caused by the fusion of p + b11 and the subsequent fissions of the carbon 12 isomer etc? What energies does this process produce? Does it produce gamma rays? What about x rays? What is the dominant form of energy in this re...

Thanks for the replies and the heads up on my url tag. BTW I use Open Office.org for my spread sheets. Its free and does everything I need it to do (which I don't have a big enough imagination to find something it cannot do or that I care that it lacks). But doesn't the space shuttle main engines ha...

polywell reactor for booster rocket applications?

Hello Polywell thinkers, I'm curious about the power scalability of the polywell. I've read that the power output scales to the 7th power of its size or something to that effect. And that a gigawatt reactor could take up as little space as 10 meters across. I don't really understand the math to find...

if 400 million is the top end of the funds they have then I wonder how they would respond to a project asking for half of that (I see 200 million quoted as being the smallest amount needed for a functioning power generating system). Is it possible to do more with less?

How would electricity be produced by the polywell?

Would it be extracted via the Rankine cycle? Photoelectric effect? Decelerators?

The presentations I've seen haven't been too clear on this..

Sorry if this has been posted before I didn't know what to search for.
