One Figure For The Theory Of the Wiffle Ball
Looking for feedback http://i.imgur.com/mD2wuYN.png Caption: This figure shows the development of the purposed “waffle ball” confinement concept [6]. Three rows of figures are shown: the magnetic field, the electron motion and the plasma density inside the polywell. (A) At low beta, the field is th...

Re: Can anyone walk me through Field Reverse Configurations?
In summary:
Let me know if you see any issues.
All I meant was that plasma moves straight through null points. Be they in polywells or FRC.

Re: Can anyone walk me through Field Reverse Configurations?
Hello, http://i.imgur.com/FldwQUA.png 1. Where is the magnetic field pressure pointed in this direction? 2. Is it true (I read this in Hoffman 1986) that the plasma pressure inside the FRC is higher than the surrounding. (YES) I found a video which shows how FRC's are formed. This is here: https://w...

Re: Can anyone walk me through Field Reverse Configurations?
Field reverse configuration. This is a plasma that self-organizes. It does this because a plasma is a fluid which conducts electricity. That means it can generate its’ own magnetic field. This structure is shown below. http://i.imgur.com/rsVO401.png This was first observed in 1956 by accident. Resea...

Re: Can anyone walk me through Field Reverse Configurations?
Here is an updated picture. http://i.imgur.com/HvdBlL3.png A couple questions: is the X-point a null point? It is not the same configuration -- but wouldn't this null point have physics similar to the center of the polywell? They talk about the FRC wanting to "flip over". I am trying to draw this. T...

Re: Can anyone walk me through Field Reverse Configurations?
Dan, Those slides are pretty good. The talk is terrible (skip to 23 minutes for FRC). I am reading https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8t9BSGalBr4ZG8wY09kbGI3c3c/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8t9BSGalBr4X0JSa3paZWVRSzA/view?usp=sharing So this is what this configuration looks like...

Re: Assembling a total $ Investment list in Alternative Fusi
That 25.1 Million was a composition of numbers pre-2008 (mostly HEPS funding, EPRI grants, Money for PXL-1, SBIR, ect...) minus the 1.8 million and 900K from the Navy. I will look again at the number.
Total: 457 million +/- 25 million.

Updated list:
There maybe several mistakes here... These are darn hard numbers to come by. If anyone has personal knowledge, I'd be interested.
* FPGeneration did not get funded through Kleiner-Perkins

Re: Definition of Cusp Confinement.
Dan, 1. Why would the particles move in a parabolic line in the center? They would move straight... unless they interact amongst themselves. 2. I forgot about the null point. So - the field free region would start from here... and push outward? http://i.imgur.com/t86TJPP.png 3. What is: "cumulative ...

Re: Definition of Cusp Confinement.
I see now that #3 and #4 cannot exist simultaneously. The electrons must move in a curved path to generate the magnetic field

Re: Definition of Cusp Confinement.
Cusp Confinement is not well understood. There are 200 papers on it. But we cannot find it on Wikipedia. SOMEONE PLEASE PUT IT ON WIKIPEDIA. Here are a couple of ways that I have heard it expressed. http://i.imgur.com/7ybDPU9.png http://i.imgur.com/CpVM2tX.png http://i.imgur.com/Zn3xLYf.png http://...
