Re: Skynet is coming.

Not a problem for civilian use, but a serious problem if you are making terminators. But a serious advantage if you're hunting terminators. With Cylons, listen for the clanking, then shoot at the red light. I suspect these are being considered for smart cars. Our new RAV4 has radar and a camera in ...

Re: EMC2 news

A key statement is made on Slide 8. Don't overlook what it means. It also couples back to Slide 7. Indeed. I did not mention this slide because, as stated, it lacks some supporting images that tell the real story. "The holes are closed." The WiffleBall does indeed form. One presumes there was some ...

Re: EMC2 news

Part of my last post was informed by the slides. Slide 3 is an update of images Dr. Bussard used since back in the 90's, the WiffleBall. It appears to be fresh art, and has simplified the explaination (RWB showed two paths to the WiffleBall). In slide 7 we can see "Breakthrough: Wiffle-Ball", togeth...

Re: EMC2 news

About this matter of physicists not being good at code and software geeks not being good at physics, why would anyone believe you can't have both on a team and have them learn something about each other's craft? This is why Dr. Bussard hired Kitty King and later Loren Jameson to work with him prior ...

Re: Skynet is coming.

I had to look up "Time of Flight camera". What a stunning concept ... every pixel does rangefinding!

Early self-driving cars had a couple of LIDAR units stuck on high corners. $30k a pop, and just gave a 2D picture.

Skynet indeed! Every Terminator needs a pair of these.

Re: SpaceX News

Looks like SpaceX got ten Iridium satellites up in one shot last night, and then stuck the barge landing. The judges deducted 0.1 points for not being exactly dead center in the inner circle, but awarded a high degree of difficulty in launching 10 satellites successfully, a barge landing, and becaus...

Re: Skynet is coming.

" It is worth a mention that the US military entered WWII with some sectors of its tech in really backwards condition " And some was superlative. The "any gun within range" artillery directing system was a terrible shock to the Germans, as was later the radar fuzed air-burst ammunition. Dad's speci...

Re: Skynet is coming.

We used to own a condo in Myrtle Beach. We rented it out in summer, so the only time I ever got to visit the NC was in cooler weather. This should also mean less crowds, highly conducive to exploring on your own. We've toured the Alabama, the Missouri, and the Wisconsin, plus an aircraft carrier or ...

Re: Skynet is coming.

Nobody on this forum should have to be reminded that Philo Farnsworth demonstrated the first working TV camera and display on September 7, 1927. Very low res, but it could kinda transmit a blurry image. Buck Rogers was introduced as a comic strip in 1928. In 1929, we see him operating an RPV sphere,...

Re: NTR fuel

We're working in the dark here. Doing a quick search on the topic, turns out this is an old topic on the site where the Polywell first gained a following, NASASpaceFlight.com. The topic includes posts by GI-Thruster (I believe this participant used a similar tag here). https://forum.nasaspaceflight....

Re: NTR fuel

Ultimately, we have to scroll this back to the start and figure out what the question is, and what constraints we're putting on the path to the answer. We seem to be asking, what benefit is there to using monoatomic hydrogen, assuming you could achieve that. The implication seems to be that we're st...

Re: NTR fuel

Realizing it may take some energy release hydrogen from them, wouldn't at least some of the metal hydrides essentially store monoatomic hydrogen? LiH especially. Ability to store monoatomic hydrogen suggests, to me, some tricks other than chemistry may offer themselves. I remain convinced that coulo...

Re: Sell The Whitehouse to Trump

Diogenes gets his information from Instagram.

This is obviously the most unimpeachable source of information you can ask for. Beyond question, unlike all that Fake News.

Case closed. There is no point in pursuing this matter any further, he's proved it beyond the slightest doubt.
