Re: Stellarators with Permanent Magnets

---------- permanent magnets have a reactive behavior so their response to reach a new equilibrium position is slower than a coiled superconductor ---------- Does that vary depending upon the material construction of the permanent magnet ? Re: Stellarators with Permanent Magnets

Would this suggest that using permanent magnets in an electric motor design is not the way forward ? If so, I wonder why Tesla is heading in that direction ? Re: Stellarators with Permanent Magnets

Makes me ponder, could you have a backbone of permanent magnets, supplemented by electromagnets to give you that fine control ? I guess there are two approaches to that even, one with them side by side so to speak, and one where the latter overlays the former. I suppose you could have a third approa...

Been quite a while I notice.

Glad to see its back.

If it goes down again, who do we contact about it ?

Re: new copper composite

I'm reminded of reading someplace about someone saying that old used copper cable was different in some manner to new copper cable and was better for the task they had in mind, could using copper cable change it over time like this ?

Twisted waves

I was reading this today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-17221490 "Twisted' waves could boost capacity of wi-fi and TV" http://iopscience.iop.org/1367-2630/14/3/033001/article And it made me wonder about magnetic confinement, in that could this be a way to increase the field strength ...

I was asking spaccemonkey!

Eg. I was asking spaccemonkey how much money he had in mind, whether it was hundreds or thousands of dollars. (Or even tens of thousands.)
