This is intriguing.

I doubt it was a military test as military do not like to show off their tests to civilians.

Unless it was a military test from a chineese sub out of LA coast........

On a first quick read I noticed quite a lot of logic jumps to get to the final result. Needless to say that the more assumption and hypothesys you make in writing a theory the more the possibility that nature didn't follow your logic. I'll read it again more carefully tonight. If you like Supersimme...

I found quite a few posts complaining about RegionPlot3D function. Clearly is bugged, and clearly a fix should be delivered to enable paying users to make the most out of their purchase. Should they release the fix only in version 8.x and not make it available for free to previous users I'll be quit...

This paper goes over a cheap and easy to way to make polyethylene from a genetic engineered yeast. This process is way past the Lab stage and into the Pilot Plant production stage. The traditional method to make the polyethylene precursors from oil is expensive and difficult. This method will cheap...

Increase the thickness of the solid: the problem comes from the fact, that the region becomes very thin compared to the plot range. The numerical algorithm seems to have problems to decide if the region exists or not. An easy work around would be make the surface "thick" http://www.mathkb.com/Uwe/Fo...

Nice find.
I am happy to see that there is still some people actualy reading and questioning patent applications in the patent offices and not simply passing papers around.

Also gives good insight that BLP does not really have much to show as support of their claims to patent officers.

Rick is indeed the person that has more info at the moment about the possibility of getting a working Polywell. I think that the fact that they didn't find useful to attend this conference can either mean that they know to have a lead in respect of other teams or that they already discovered that th...

Any human has a view on a subject, but this does not mean that he is marrying a political faction. The two are very diferent things IMHO.

I don't think MSimon is incapable of impartiality as seems to be implied. I never implied that and I am sorry if I gave that impression. On the contrary, I never saw him abusing about his moderator status during these years. My point was just that to keep politics out of a non politic area you need...

I am reading also the other presentations from the workshop: http://www.plasma.ee.kansai-u.ac.jp/iec2010/ Looks like Joel got some of the hypothesis for his work from actual results from experimental data. Lot of stuff to dig into, and some of it is also contradictory. Would be nice to have Joel tel...

I suggest everyone gets a good read to Joel Rogers presentation.
He suggest that Q scales at power 3 of the radius instead of Bussard idea that Q scales at the 5th power of the radius. He than proceeds to estimate a reactor size of 150 meters for Break even....

Quite an interesting read.
