Time to Vote for a Name
Enough chatter. It's time we settled this for all time. Pick a name:

Re: News thread political tangent
d) biofuel: actually causes MORE harm to the environment than drilling for oil, a LOT more. increases soil erosion, nitrate pollution in rivers, deforestation, increases food prices resulting in rising poverty rates globally. I hate to pop this balloon, but the negative comments on biofuels make li...

Not just public money up in smoke - quite a few private investors lost money as well: my dad made the mistake of buying bonds for that fiasco. The acronym was WPPSS (Washington Public Power Supply System) – most people just called it "Whoops" - not funny. The almost-completed corpse of the Satsop re...

That's about what I estimated: Elsewhere in Talk-Polywell, it has been said that the company that makes the new MgB2 superconductor wire supplies it with a round cross-section. A 0.3 m coil producing 0.45 T would require 10^5 Amp-turns. A 0.3 m coil producing 2 T would require 4.5 times as many Amp-...

Tom, the 128 Gw came from here:
http://www.petitionspot.com/forums/128- ... try2029001
It appears that jlafitte assumed 1 Gw for the WB-100, and then he scaled it up to 8m, without regard to effects of heat load on the magrid.

I detest the ambiguity of "Nuclear Reactor" because it does not distinguish between say, an RBMK and a BFR: they are both "Nuclear Reactors." Unfortunately "Bussard Reactor" and "BFR" both have the same problem. They both have the word "Reactor" in them; and I suspect that "Reactor" would not do wel...

David, I know this isn't exactly a response to your challenge; but have you seen "Who Killed the Electric Car?" It would appear -in that instance at least- that big corporations are quite capable of sitting on technology even when it is not in their best interest. It seems obvious that GM's sitting ...

I will back-off in my attempts to contact Norm Dicks, my congressman. It was becoming a somewhat frustrating exercise. Although I have spoken with with three different assistants of his, have sent two different emails, and two different USPS letters - one with a "polywell packet," I have not ever ha...

Re: Polywell electric webpage
One thing that WON'T happen is fuel electrons leaving via the trap grid as you've pictured in your document. I don't see how that could occur, unless some weird mechanism exists for injecting ions from there without killing confinement... I have a diagram next to the "Third" step that shows "batter...

Re: Polywell electric webpage
Hang on, are you using the terms the same? The decelerator grid is the same thing as the trap grid. Does that help? This is why it is so important for us all to standardize the language. My suggestion would be to drop the use of "decelerator grid" entirely because I have seen it used as a synonym f...

Polywell electric webpage
Concerning your many comments with regard to the basic details of “How the pB11 polywell makes electricity” at http://www.polywellnuclearfusion.com/Clean_Nuclear_Fusion/Polywell_Electric.html To TheRadicalModerate: I have changed the collector to one solid shell, so the alphas won’t miss. Thank you!...

Summing it up - to date
I count three other threads in addition to this one on this particular issue: 1. Where do the electons go? 2. Energy extraction alternative and -the hot one right now- 3. Electron recirculation. Each of them has some pretty good stuff, and of course there's a huge amount of overlap. I tried to extra...
