Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

I'll be there. They've evidently made some gains in the lifetime of the FRC, but it's still dying quickly due to rapid losses, despite the large amount of injected neutral beam power. They plan to add more, but I am skeptical of how much it will buy them in performance. They are beginning to charac...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

The abstracts of the meeting are now available http://meetings.aps.org/Meeting/DPP14/Content/2782 . Tri Alpha Energy has 22 abstracts this year. The general overview of TAE is described by this abstract: http://meetings.aps.org/Meeting/DPP14/Session/UP8.2 Overview of the C-2 Field-Reversed Configura...

Re: Dr Park speaking at University of Maryland on September

It would be nice to hear a report of the seminar if someone from Talk-Polywell did attend.

Re: ARPA-E to begin funding alternative fusion concepts

The total amount of funds in this initiative is about 30 M USD. The initiative is of course very good, but more money available would be even better of course.

Dr Park speaking at University of Maryland on September 9th

Dr Park is speaking at the University of Maryland on September 9th 2014 with the title "Measurement of Enhanced Confinement at High Pressure Magnetic Cusp System ". Abstract: The issue of plasma confinement in a cusp geometry dates back to the late 1950s, when Harold Grad Harold Grad and his team at...

Re: General Fusion in the news

Here is an interview with Michel Laberge. You can either read it or listen to it as an mp3. He seems to be rather satisfied with the status of their plasma injectors, but the RMI needs more work, maybe even a couple of years. http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/content/interviews/interview/100088...

It is good to be careful with these matters as wrong information can do a lot of harm. Hope you get the clearance to publish your text soon.

Re: General Fusion talk at TEDxKC

The TEDxKC talk by Michele Laberge is now available on Youtube. It is 14 min 1 s long and pretty much the same talk as the previous TED talk. He mentions 200 cylinders and not 300 or 400 in the talk, so it is hard to know what they are thinking about that number. Here is the link to the presentation...

Re: Sorlox - FRC nautilus compressor

There is an article about the instrumentation that Sorlox uses to measure the properties of the compact toroid that they create and accelerate for injection and compression in their spiral device. The article is two pages with most of the content spent on explaining fusion in general as well as desc...

Re: More Helion Energy news....

they just want to give the message that something is in the works. Why? My guess is advertisement fluff and filler. Recovering something from lost money on some R&D. Like putting a dog on a car's hood on a TV ad. I read zero into it especially because there is nothing on the working concept and 2 s...

Re: General Fusion talk at TEDxKC

Thanks Solo, that was interesting to hear. So it seems that the explosive experiments are not a fast and easy short cut to demonstrate fusion break even, not at least yet.

Re: More Helion Energy news....

The just recently released an image film showing their fusion work (among other things). So they are still working on it. I assume they are just very secretive about it (like Tri Alpha). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6L5J7WcUpo&list=UUJWcF0ex7_doPdIQGbVpDsQ Skipjack, yes I know about that advert...

Re: General Fusion talk at TEDxKC

General Fusion is also working on their plasma injectors and compression pistons, which already are of full scale. Their performance is by no means final, so a lot of work remains there. To minimize their risks they are calibrating their simulation codes against the Mini Sphere and of course this wi...
