I could argue that the current problem has more to do with falling sales of autos, but, since (as I've said repeatedly), my point was not to support unions, or the left, or anything like it, I really don't have to, do I?

You don't vote for gangs. Government, presumably, we did vote for. You can call democracy mob rule if you like, but then what do you propose we replace it with? In my analogy, the thing owned by the individual is their labor. And they have a right to negotiate any price for it that they like. No? Su...

Oh quite. That's been my point. That the media follows the money, first and foremost. If there was no money in liberal reporting, there'd be no liberal bias. Fact is, as I've said, that people are willing to purchase media despite it's biases. Because they understand that news is biased, and deal wi...

Funny, but though the sites I visit are far more MSM than those you cite, somehow I have learned the facts behind almost all of the stories you cite as being buried. Well, truth be told, I only heard about the birth certificate issue in general terms, and not that the issue was that his father was p...

Murdoch's outlets, some of them at least, are conservative, or so I've argued. Is it then your assertion that an outlet cannot have a bias different from that of it's owner? Again, as somebody cited, Murdoch has said at times that he's "embarrassed" by Fox sometimes. I mean, my other cite clearly sh...

Sure, but, again, what good will taking away hunting arms and such do? It only prevents honest citizens from getting them, largely, and if they want to kill somebody, they'll still find a way. The NRA even argues (somewhat dubiously) that gun ownership prevents crimes. Its like the drug issue to me....

A young man went to work in a factory. After talking with his managers for a while, he became ashamed of his mother who worked for the labor union, convinced that they were trying to bilk the company out of it's profits. He confronted his mother about it one day, and she said, "Do you work hard at t...

The more I read about Murdoch, the more interesting he becomes. He supported Hilary in the last election, yes, and then had positive things to say about Obama. But he was very hawkish about the Iraq war (then again, many libs were, too), and helped get Thatcher and Major elected in GB. Maybe he's - ...

Corporate. Like I said. The logic is silly. There are no rich liberals? Like the Forbes family (Kerry, et al)? Uh, they're not "true" liberals, because they still own the Gosnold Isles, and haven't donated them to a public trust? You could perhaps argue that they're hypocritical. But not that they d...

I think that saying Palin was unintelligent is pushing it, yes. Maybe a better question, in general, was whether or not she was an effective candidate. Choice of a Vice President is fairly important in an election, in terms of who gets elected. And I think, while Palin certainly energized a certain ...

I've seen lots of studies about the liberal bias, too (I actually got into debates about it starting just before you started studying the phenomenon when I was in college). I am not, nor have I once so far, denied that there is a liberal bias. I once argued that there was such a bias in media, and a...

The Mayans did, in fact, have astonishingly accurate celestial mathematics. That's interesting in and of itself. Why bother? The 2012 date, being the end of the precession cycle means that MSimon is right... that's the date we start heading into the next ice-age and will need more CO2 to combat this...

Er... wasn't that what I was saying? It's a business, and if there's a market, it'll get filled? I'll even take off my supposition that Murdoch is conservative... he's corporate (I tend to equate the two, but we can cut them apart, if that's neccessary). His interest in the WSJ is based on the fact ...

"Radiation dangerous? Pernicious nonsense!" - Repo Man Yes, with current studies showing that cell phones can cause cancer, as well as electrical wires, the whole idea might well be problematic. Still interesting. We assume that radio waves are non-problematic at the levels at which stations transmi...

As a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard for 15 years before I got out, I can tell you that well-regulated militias already do exist. And are quite functional. Ask all of them who are currently in Iraq and Afghanistan right now, including many friends of mine. The current court rulings on th...
