Madison is probably the Pinnicle of the Fusor; whereas the Polywell wb6 was just a very early attempt. If that early attempt achieved the same results as the pinnacle of the Fusors, then we are well on our way for some amazing progress. Let's see what results wb7 will bring. This is still an early a...

Scareduck; Thanks for the "short List". What I'm trying to figure, is which ones in the list *don't* involve solving simultaneous equations combining Maxwell with Hydrodynamics. Is it that *ALL* American research is to involve MHD Maths? It's like everybody wins but Science. Schools and Gubberment l...

X Prize!!!

The idea behind the X prize is to push technology that already exists further. Fusion technology doesn't really exist yet, so I'm not sure it is ready for X prize level..... Ahh, but Fusion does exist, as we know, where Q<0.0001 for IEC devices. I really think it would snap the attention of physics...

Work done.....

Amusing side-note: the effect you can attribute zero-point energy is the Casimir (spelling?) effect. This is the effect that when you put absolute nothing between two plates, then they will attract eachother. To take advantage of the Casimir effect, you would need kilometre long plates to gain one ...

materials limitations.

Fossil fuel production is tapering off now, or will soon. Over the longer term, the only dispatchable options will be hydroelectric, geothermal, nuclear fission, and nuclear fusion. It seems Wind and Solar have the chance of far exceeding Hydroelectric which is nearly at maximum as it is, at about ...

DC transmission.

This last Scientific American focused on solar power saying huge amounts of electrical generation could be performed in the Southwestern US. It indicated that long haul DC transmission would be best. I only skimmed the magazine; and put reading it on my "to do" list, but at first glance, Long haul D...

It would need to be exclusive.

Scareduck;

Exactly... Unless the energy tax was exclusive, where all other taxes were null, I'd not favor it.

I'm saying *don't* tax income... We want to encourage income generation. Taxes discourage a behavior, not encourage it. We never want energy so cheap that folks drive to work in personal vehicles that approach the size of Locomotives. Let there be no mistake... Without any restraint, that's where we...

Thank you Dr Bussard

We should temper our optimism.... Dr. Bussard put IEC back on the map, but it is by no means guaranteed soon; Probability may be low to middle, but expected value is immense due to the potential payoff.... This has to be pursued. On the downside, energy is misused as it is; We've got folks driving t...

Magnetic Dipole Experiment

I like that the Megnetic Dipole reflects thinking outside the "mimic Nuclear Weapons" box. The Magnetic lines converge in the center, rendering this experiment as a more non-isotrophic experiment. They're beginning to look at the possibilities of not requiring the whole plasma to be the same tempura...

Nah, they're going for the same reason we went there. The economics of lunar mining are insane; we won't see it till someone figures out a way get stuff out of this gravity well without chemical rockets. Agreed on both points. General Motors' Answer

It is also interesting to note that General Motors is trying to leapfrog the whole Hybrid thing with the ultimate electric platform; They aren't betting entirely on any specific type battery; Their technology will be a great advance regardless of the electric sources both on board, and original gene...
