Re: ZAP Energy News

I will never get bored of repeating that we should always beware of scaling plateau in uncharted areas. This issue has been the major stopover of virtually every fusion tech out there for the past 40 years and the main cause of the popular belief that "fusion is always 20 years in future"..... The ...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

Again, it might as well be that they solved the issue and didn't want to disclose it, no one knows, but the issue is real and is there from 15 years waiting to be solved as it is a roadblock for everyone working with FRCs and hoping to get to Q>1. Is this what Dennis Whyte has in mind when he says ...

The team behind it has found one of the final pieces needed to quickly make clean inexp...

Re: ZAP Energy News

Yes, you are totally correct. Scaling-up instabilities has been the show-stopper of every major/medium/small fusion idea of the last century. Still, the amount of knowledge we learned from those failure is what really pushed the boundaries to enable new visions like ZAP and Helion. So I really want...

Re: ZAP Energy News

A good and enlightening debate! Maybe a question about whether the glass is half empty or half full, but: "one technological major hurdle to overcome to reach the commercial fusion doorstep, i.e. keeping the Sheared Flow phenomena stable as they increase the power and decrease the pinch radius." ......

Re: Thank you, Talk-Polywell

I should have shared a word of appreciation earlier. This forum is a really really valuable resource. No news is no news and a generally disciplined mode of discussion focused on a better level of understanding. For example, Giorgio, who seems to be knowleadgeable person, expresses himself like "I'm...

Jäderberg future power - Swedish fusion startup

https://www.jfpower.se/ No information whatsoever given. Partners with the Royal School of Technology. According to their site. But let´s have them registered and kept under surveillance. The adress doesn't look like a place where you can do any more serious experimenting. There are however a few la...

Re: New Fusion Startup CTFusion

I have looked through the video now. Learned that the induction heating takes place in an external pathway. And that the concept can rely solely on induction heating. Otherwise, no additional wisdom acquired. I hope it will work.

As I do for any other concept being discussed here.

Re: Magnetic mirrors are back?

Nice reading.

I have read somewhere that the gas dynamic trap needed 2 kilometers of reaction chamber to reach break even.

Great news if they can make it in a short stump of tubing with HT superconductors.

Helion Giga factories will need capital before the 2030's. An IPO before then would raise the capital needed for their first factory, no? 2028?
So the idea at present is to do this as an in-house production operation? No licensing?
