According to the article, it is measuring voltage. I'm not sure of the exact scale, however, they mentioned using 20 kV for the run.

Um, isn't the cathode the negative terminal? Or should I ignore this because its too technical for mainstream media to get correct?

The uneven air pressure combined with ablation due to its speed will chew up even a metal meteor. This is why most meteorite fragments are just that, fragments of the larger original. A decent number of the pieces may make it to the ground but most will be (much) smaller than a bowling ball. Or, at ...

Indeed, of those listed, only mice do, which seems to really destroy the mass ratio argument. Of course, maybe they are smarter than us. Well, they were the ones to commission Slartibartfast to build the Earth after all. :D While mass of grey-matter is almost sure to play a role in relative ...

The problem is that each of those capacitors has its own graph, and the chances of the EEStore device matching any of them is pretty small. Its that graph, but for the EESU, that we are all interested in, and that would resolve the controversy. I'd love to see them be an actual working device, but b...

As I understand the discussions previously (and, admittedly, I would not be surprised if I have misunderstood something) wouldn't both of those designs give you four line cusps that go "across" the device from one cluster of feedlines to the other? Also, why the twist just after leaving the "sphere"...

I assumed that was referring to the source of boron ions.
I took it as meaning the source for fuel ions as well.

I was taught (back in the mid to late '70s) that the E (or e) was for Exponent. MSimon, I just tested it on Open Office. I entered "10e4" into the cell and it changed it to 10000 as the value, and displayed "1.00E+005". I entered "1E4" next, with the result of 1000 as the value and "1.00E+004" bein...

Now.. If you want to make a road bed last longer, may I suggest cast basalt? ... And basalt is nice and dark, so it should absorb a decent amount of thermal energy during the day, making things easier to de-ice. Not on its own, but better than tarmac or concrete does now. Running power and data und...

I've always found it humorous that the "constant" G appears to have a non-constant value, based on all of the experimental results that have been achieved attempting to measure its value. Some of the differences were above the margin of error, while others were small enough to have been no more than...

While I'd love to hear more (current) news about the experimentation and what they've found, the fact he's busy enough to not really have time to post here has to be considered a good thing for the Polywell.

my google-fu is weak today. the closest i could find to what i remember reading (from space.com, now that i think about it) is this brief article about interstellar dust . unfortunately, it only makes a passing reference to how the dust affects the transiting light we view and does not go into the d...

...Also, he claims that gravity between two particles is repulsive at distances > 20 light years. It's not really repulsive, more that that matter attracts matter, but matter repels space, so that the expansion of space between them at 20 light years is greater than the attraction from gravity. ......

Although I suppose you could say in its defense that those dessert areas are comparatively low in biodiversity anyhow. My understanding was that while we can't see very much life in an "empty" desert, it actually has quite a diverse biosphere. Most of it is small, nocturnal, burrows, or all three, ...
