pB11 fusion is "aneutronic". Wouldn't that suggest that DB10 would also be? Also, since the D has twice to mass of the p in pB11, wouldn't that also suggest that it can happen at a lower energy?
I cannot find any info on this. Anybody?

Re: Bue Origin News
Sadly, my Estes V2 rocket was the victim (on the first flight) of a batch of defective D engines that blew up on ignition. 20 odd hours of work (as a teenager) put into building, painting and finishing that thing, only to have it disintegrate into little chunks in about 1/20th of a second. I once a...

Re: Flywheel energy storage
RPM is actually immaterial. It is tangential velocity that matters. The tangential velocity is limited by either the specific velocity or the characteristic velocity depending on the strong direction of the fly wheel. And the energy storage is proportional to the tangential velocity squared. The onl...

They are still high power, low energy storage devices.

Re: Flywheel energy storage
Currently, flywheels are only used on the grid for fequency regulation. They are just too expensive for anything else, unless ubidized to a fair-thee-well.
Most modern flywheels are made with fiber reinforced plastic, and when tey fail they usually just puff up into a mess of delaminated fibers.

Re: Comets can’t explain weird ‘alien megastructure’ star after all
Does anyone know where the system's planetary orbit plane would be? If it aligns with our sun, wouldn't a megastructure be plausible?

Re: SpaceX News
I'm sure you've seen one of the many such speculative calculations into how many times a booster must be re-flown for the savings to make sense. ULA says 15, which is probably high. but if it's not more than half a dozen or so, then the savings are probably minimal at best. Few of these costs go aw...
