Re: Actual Polywell News!

So, can anyone summarize the actual current state of polywell research. I'm new to this topic. Is there current funded research? Are there any clues on whether the polywell fusion concept DOES work? Why is there no intrest from other physicists? I've once asked a quantum physics prof on a univerity...

And I need not belief in viability of Polywell as I see that definitely Polywell does not work and will not work. The main thing to wait for is confirmation of scaling. Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the current dearth of information coming from EMC2, it's hard to tell if they've established sca...

I was under the impression that the high initial cost of a tok plus the fact that neutrons destroy its own equipment in a matter of months makes the approach economically infeasible, even if the reaction yields surplus energy. No utility in its right mind would invest in one.

The NRC and nuclear industry do present a considerable obstacle though, and it may be doomed to failure in the US, like so many other things. The MSR technology and business model are both completely orthogonal to the existing nuclear industry, so they have no inherent advantage or desire to pursue...

Oh no wait, he already apologized this week. Was for the mistaken burning of a Koran. He's not due to apologize again for at least another 5 days. Uh huh. You live next door to a crazy man. You cannot move away, and you face dire consequences if you kill him. He says the world will end if you don't...

Aneutronic fusion reactions produce the overwhelming bulk of their energy in the form of charged particles instead of neutrons. This means that energy could be converted directly into electricity by various techniques. Many proposed direct conversion techniques are based on mature technology derive...

Truth is what you end up with, once the argument has been won.. no?

not if what you're arguing about is how many angels dance on the head of a pin.

I saw some bit on some news outlet... maybe slashdot. The gist of it was, reason evolved to win arguments, not to pursue the truth. Explains a lot.
