Re: Anyone have the equation for estimating hole size?
A couple of points: 1. The Beta is One . 2. 5000 cm^3 is a educated guess. It being a guess, I feel AOK making my own guesses about volume and shape. 3. The chamber effectively holds 8,927 cm^3 (I know I said 10,077 earlier but if you lop off the corners), hence 5000 cm^3 seems really big . 4. I am...

Re: Anyone have the equation for estimating hole size?
Guys, Let me read all these responses and get back to you. At present - I am not sure how exactly to solve this problem. I have generated STL files with the 3D shapes, and I have some software which can simulate the fields around these shapes - and works with STL files. Indrek's method of images lo...

Re: Anyone have the equation for estimating hole size?
DAN, I can use this equation. Here is where I am at in the development process. ---- Part 4: Modelling Field Free Plasmas Introduction: The paper lists the plasma inside the cusp confinement zone as having a 5000 cm^3 volume [12]. That is pretty big (the rings hold a volume of 9500 cm^3). A sphere o...

Anyone have the equation for estimating hole size?
Hello,
Anyone have the equation for estimating hole size in a sheath of plasma inside the polywell?
I have read a couple of papers which estimate it, one example is:
Hole^2 = 2* Sheath Thickness * Radius of Spindle Cusps

Modeling the cusp confined volume inside EMCC machine
Hello All, In their recent paper , the EMC2 team listed the cusp confined volume as 5000 cm^3. That is crazy big. If that was shaped as a sphere, it would nearly fill the whole ring volume. http://i.imgur.com/0SejRcH.png This is too scale. Here is my question: what is the magnetic field vector field...

Re: Help with the math behind the 14 point star
Meh,
The University of Sydney solved this one.
Set B equal to a constant and plot the solution. Integrate over X, Y, Z and get the volume.

Help with the math behind the 14 point star
Hello Guys, In the Navy Paper they mention that the cusp confined plasma volume is 5000 cm^3. How far away then, would each point of the confined volume be from the center point? We need the mathematics to describe this object. It is a 14 point star. I attempted to draw it out: http://i.imgur.com/C...

Re: FEL wikipedia fusion pages update effort
Here are some things we could change about this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levitated_dipole Intro: "It is believed that such an apparatus could contain plasma more efficiently than other fusion reactor designs.[1]" Why justifies this claim? Better would be describing in more detail which...

65 minute Polywell/Bussard Talk in Italy
Hi Guys, It looks like this happened a while ago. The video was posted online at the end of 2013 - but the presentation is likely 2008. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drXUjwo1Jyc I do not speak Italian. Here is the description translated: Robert Bussard and Research Frontier Clean on Nuclear Fusion...

Re: Plasma Injectors in Recent Navy Work
Guys - I will take any feedback on this you have on this. I have two questions: 1. Paschan Arching happens when the system is on that line, right? Not over? Not Under? 2. The Magnetic field plot looks wrong. It should be easy to check, its the B-field around a wire 3. If the plastic vaporizes insta...

Plasma Injectors in Recent Navy Work
Hello All, Here is the description of the plasma injectors, from the paper: The plasma injectors consist of two co-axial plasma guns with an anode to cathode gap spacing of 2 mm utilizing JXB plasma acceleration.[10] The plasma guns use solid polypropylene lm with 4 m thickness instead of more comm...
