Fusion Power Associates annual meeting 2015

Post by crowberry »

The agenda of the Annual meeting of Fusion Power Associates and most of the slides have been published. :D
Agenda Slides
EMC2 and General Fusion attended, but the GF presentation is not (yet?) available.
Polywell Fusion Electrostatic Fusion in a Magnetic Cusp - Jaeyoung Park, EMC2
There are nice pictures of the Polywells built by EMC2 in the talk The future goals are stated as:
Next Phase: Last Part of Proof-of-Principle
- Sustained high β operation (~ 5 ms)
- Demonstration of ion heating (>10 kV) by e-beam injection
- Verify Grad’s cusp scaling
3 year, $25-30M program to complete proof-of-principle
Success will be defined by 1) high energy electron confinement within a factor of 10
from Grad’s conjecture and 2) minimum 30% ion heating efficiency via e-beam.

"Conical" magrid coils on p.22. Lower losses at the non-point cusps...

(Can anyone locate the assembly video?)
