This year's Visioneering workshop was held on May 15-17. The winner?:What is Visioneering™?
Each year, corporate leaders, philanthropists, heads of innovation and XPRIZE Trustees gather for a multi-day Visioneering workshop to brainstorm, debate, and prioritize which of the world's Grand Challenges might be solved through incentivized prize competition.
It appears from several accounts that the "forbidden energy" sources the winning team had in mind were cold fusion and zero-point energy. The significance of all this is that the winning concept has a shot at being developed into an actual XPRIZE. Of course, it remains to be seen if the XPRIZE foundation actually launches a "Forbidden Energy" XPRIZE, and if the rules are broad enough to permit concepts that are alternative, but not really "forbidden" (by whom or what: an international conspiracy? the laws of physics?) Even if it may not be necessary, it would be nice to see a nuclear fusion XPRIZE along the lines of what Bussard proposed in the mid-'90s.“Forbidden Energy” – The development of radical, even controversial, alternative sources of energy
