This got over 1 million dollars in crowd funding and 800K in government grants. Amazing!

Can't we just let this bad idea die a long overdue death?

Can you imagine if they were to actually solve all the problems with this, and you had a roadway material that was cheap, durable, collected power, and transmitted it wirelessly to electric cars?

Just about that time, we get flying cars.

This is such a bad idea it is near the top of the history of bad ideas. These people must be telling themselves they'll get paid some small bit for every tile and so their greed has made them inanely stupid.

At the rate things are going, they might as well implement these road types. At worst, it speeds the implementation of flying cars and at best they are useful additions to our roads. Cost is my concern, not practicality, for this particular idea.

Oh, I'm not expecting it to be able to power vehicles. While that would work, it wouldn't work for enough vehicles at a time to make it worthwhile.

I can, however, see the utility of it being used to power in-road lights to designate lanes and such. If nothing else, that would reduce the problem of being able to identify where the lanes actually go in otherwise poor lighting conditions.
