Record proton-boron fusion rate achieved
Re: Record proton-boron fusion rate achieved
This was discussed tangentially in the past. At that time it was a vague report that "Russians had used a laser to get P-B11 fusion" This gives more detail and I suspect is the pertinent work.
The context was mostly speculation about the energies of the P-B11 alphas, and the implications for alpha particle thermalization and direct conversion. Tri Alpha has a report where the energy distribution among the three alphas is different from the classical values. Clarifying this question is needed for any direct conversion scheme.
