The Dutch team of Martijn Rambonnet and Bent de Lange has just demonstrated fusion in a Farnsworth fusor and been added to the neutron club. But what's really interesting is what they plan to do next:
Our future plans are to build a polywell in our new 28.5cm stainless steel vacuum chamber. (still under construction)
But mostly we'll be concentrating on our next project, a superconducting polywell.
So we have Famulus, a team at the University of Sydney, a team in Japan, and now this Dutch team who are all attempting to investigate the functioning of the Polywell.
Temperature, density, confinement time: pick any two.
Kudos to them!
The more people working on it the greater the possibility that we will see some real data before we become too old to even understand how to turn on a PC
RWB told me, after he published the 2007 Valencia report, that he expected if he could not get Polywell continued, he'd put enough information out there that somebody would pick it up. He would be delighted that there are multiple efforts looking at this, and that the general principles are being applied to other configurations.
