Wow the tape they have in production is remarkably complex geometry of diffrerent metals. It looks like we have got a lot of work infront of us. That was a huge machine and it only got to 0.5T

Ive been waiting a while for that info and some facts i found interesting were. I thought the entire machine was driven with a single pulsed Megawatt cap bank giving 12.5kv@800A. It turns out that there was simply a big lead acid battery bank driving the 800amps for the b field and a separate bank o...

Anything happening over at the google polywell group ?

i just visited the site to see if there was anything fresh, and its been completely clamped down to members only. The site says they only have 14 members ? is anyone here a member there ? is anything happening over there at all ? just curious, cheers.

Yep those pesky robots.

I propose a question to gain registration

ELECTRONS in a copper conductor travel at a speed of ?

a. The speed of light 3x10^8 metres per second
b. 2/3 the speed of light
c. Centimeters per hour

That should weed them out ... the answer being c :)

Msimon all i was trying to say is that the aneutronic image Dr B worked hard to create (emphasizing the first bit of the google talk) was very important. So lets say if i raised some money and built an experimental reactor in my garage and drove it with D-T cause of my budget. Then i said "hey every...

I gotta hand it to you TheRadicalModerate. You are one smart cookie. If there was one way a corrupt government with oil lined pockets could tangibly put the breaks on the fusion movement Dr Bussard started, it would be through this proliferation legal nonsense. I suggest we never speak of this again...

^agreed. Although Teller wasn't a shining example of humanity. His real contribution to the H-bomb in collaboration with Ulam is still disputed. He testified that Openhiemer was communist for a power grab. He wanted to nuke part of alaska to build an artificial bay. He is a shining example of how ab...

Sorry to get off topic TheRadicalModerate. But all that talking about lasers Msimon has got me thinking. What would happen if you put a platform with a Polywell and a Free Electron Laser in space ? This would give you the power to erase anyone or anything off the map with the push of a button. Nucle...

^ *nods* i concur Inside the polywell the ion cloud can expand and compress with degrees of freedom. Thats Pops, its a harmonic oscillator, thats the easy part. The electron cloud however is bound by the magnetic cusps on one side and the ion core on the other. That means its got complex dynamics. I...

We are indeed heading into uncertain times. Having large fusion reactors acting as neutron sources to produce weapons grade material is a worry. But people have been worrying for years. The damage has already been done, missing American suitcase nukes, broken arrows, and Profiteering Russian nuclear...

How about a simulation of pulsed higher states of energy to the coils? There the exponential question. Computer simulation in those conditions with fidelity would be more challenging than building an experimental reactor. Besides simply increasing the B field is not going to compress the core like ...
