VAcuum Technology and Coating
This month's issue of Vac Tech and Coating has a bunch of interesting articles about ion injectors and plasma probes as well as the usual vacuum guide.: http://e-ditionsbyfry.com/Olive/AM3/VTC/Default.htm?href=VTC/2009/04/01 magazine home page: http://www.vactechmag.com/ free to read online and free...

Something to think about
I'm not vetting this for veracity other than it seems to fit the pattern that have have seen since the late Seventies: http://atomicinsights.blogspot.com/2009/04/anti-nuclear-effectively-means-pro.html As far as I am concerned as long as Polywell is seen as yet another crank fusion device its probab...

Peer review dishonesty
I'm not so pessimistic. You do know that there is nothing wrong with using material from other sources so long as you correctly cite them. In engineering and physics you don't want to reinvent the wheel. I don't think that I would ever use wiki for a source unless I had verified from other sources w...

The Competition And A Little Market Research
This is from a venture capital site,so take it for what its worth. The biggest stumbling block to the expansion of nuclear energy has been the size of the plants. Their size and cost makes them easy targets for opponents and very vulnerable to cost overruns and the additional interest payments that ...

Fusors in the Wall Street Journal today
The fusor group had a small piece on the front page of the Wall Street Journal today:

You have to understand that particle accelerator devices are not exactly operating like the electrical devices we are used to . When you measure a particle's energy in electron volts you are measuring the total energy including the kinetic energy as well as any charge the particle may have. So when ...

If I were making the Gant chart the next steps and milestones would be the magnet design and test, followed by the HV power supply and the MAgrids. I would also like another WB7 scale machine to test the docehedron configuration but thats actually extra work at this point. Biggest immediate big tick...

Shielded Building Construction
Someone on the IEC Yahoo board brought up the fact that he did not know how to design a building that was properly shielded from radiation. Well here's one that I am familiar with, The FEL building at Jlab: http://www1.jlab.org/ul/jpix/med/FEL_6.jpg the trick is to put the experiment in the cellar a...

A test bed for bfr marine propulsion
I know that this is early, but it bears thinking about. At some point a test bed is going to be needed for demonstrating the effectiveness of BFRs. Ideally it should be a ship that is not new, but is in good condition. It should be easy to move to a shipyard that is familiar with it for modification...

I was thinking the same thing. Frankly I think that BFRs would be an ideal marine powerplant. They would separate a ship from refueling problems and most new ships already use electric propulsion(Diesel electric) already with propulsion units in pods rather than direct screw propulsion. BFRs are als...
