That makes some sense. Many think that Dick Wier does not understand the science as well as an inventor should. However, he has been granted some patents, so we will see. My impression of the patent system is that they basically mean nothing until challenged in court-- its not until a patent is cha...

Seems to me this belongs in "General" instead of news. If by "warmenistas" you mean ill informed politicos, maybe. But if you mean scientists supporting the theory of anthropogenic effects as the primary cause of recent warming, I think it's highly inaccurate to claim they never believed solar varia...

C'mon conservatives, where's the outrage?
I'm a strong Obama supporter. Maybe that's why I'm apparently one of the few outraged by Obama pushing aside his 2 day-old rule on ethics and lobbying to allow one of his appointments by. I find it suprising the story's not getting picked up the way I would expect it to. It wasn't the lead story for...

Re: Temperature record
Maui posts this picture as a demonstration for AGW shown in tree ring studies... The point - the stuff you show actually supports the notion that todays warming is not unusual. Seeload, please read my post before responding. If you did so, you would have saved your breath by understanding that I am...

Re: Data
You reference the above graph as though it doesn't illustrate exactly what I'm talking about. The graph shows the last 1k years of multiproxy data, and in it there are anomalies far greater than those of the last 150 years. Even your quote from NAS regarding the data states " global mean surface te...

Re: Temperature record
I still insist the biggest problem with the 'unprecedented' warming argument and defense of it is the temperature record itself... The strongest argument brought out is tree ring data, but tree ring data does NOT show anything abnormal in the last 100 years. To expand upon what Tom has said (that y...

* 1905: After a strong swing, PDO changed to a "warm" phase. * 1946: PDO changed to a "cool" phase. [See the blue section of the graph on the right] * 1977: PDO changed to a "warm" phase.[3] * 1998: PDO index showed several years of "cool" values, but did not remain in that pattern.[4] * 2008: The ...

They also do release CO2 during respiration. They may absorb more CO2 but as plant life continues to grow, they would be adding more CO2 to the atmosphere depending on how fast they grow. Not being a biologist, just an EE/physicist, I can't say for sure how much is added or absorbed. The way I've a...

Which is the IPCC's way of saying - climate change or natural variation? We have no clue. To some degree, yes. (allowing that you are exaggerating the meaing a bit). Can we be agreed, then, that the IPCC acknowledges the unknown PDO and other phenomenon represent? A link and a quote I posted above ...

It would be interesting, though, to see just how much extra C02 is released from plant respiration and obvious increase of biomass decay that this increase would cause, considering that it is a substantial ~20% increase! I have not seen this factored in on GW calculations. Plants aborb CO2, instead...

When there is so much conflicting data and science to call the sceptics deniers smacks of religion and associated charges of heresy. It really puts the AGW crowd in a bad light . Yes, "deniers" on both sides put their respected "sides" in a bad light. So we should not only work to make sure we are ...

The fact that a well known phenomenon like the PDO was left out of the climate model tells me that the modelers are not being honest. Still trying to dig up info regarding PDO and climate models... though as I mentioned in my last post, since PDO can't be accurately timed, it probably doesn't make ...

The fact that a well known phenomenon like the PDO was left out of the climate model tells me that the modelers are not being honest. I'm trying to find some information about the IPCC reports and PDO. But my first inclining is that if they truely do not include it in their models (I'm skeptical ab...

The very fact that you used the word "denier" earlier is concerning, Josh. "Denier" is a noun of faith. "Skeptic" is a noun of honor in science. I would consider a skeptic in the honor of science one that raises questions about elements of a theory which can't be explained or that raises other poss...
