Now that I have the model working here is some data analysis: Slice thru the middles of the 2 short sides Showing field nulls and weakening field as it gets further from (above) the nulls. http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm317/tombo1234/Offset%20Coil%20Fields/X-Cusp_B_Field_6_OffsetCoil_000_-6.pn...

I suppose it's theoretically possible. But, I don't know how to do it. It would have a time consuming learning curve and I have other things I want to do. Also the only approaches I can think of would increase processing time incredibly. My gut tells me the the 20 minute excel macro could stretch ou...

Kiteman created an Excel spreadsheet to do a similar job for an arbitrary set of conductors using a numerical integration of the of the Biot-Savart equation. It was posted here In the thread "Is There an Optimal Size for Magrid Casings?": I'm sorry, slipped my mind. Here it is. http://taenia.homeste...

Could you generate a slice thru the other side of the coil, the long side? slice thru centers of long sides on xz plane: http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm317/tombo1234/XCuspVectors_XZ_Plane.png same with current turned down to make vectors more clear. http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm317/to...

One of the things I'm seeing is that the crescent shaped null connects two 3-sided vertexes making them in a sense 4 sided vertexes which agrees with the requirement for all vertexes to have an even number of faces. The null is not actually a current however it is a separation between domains of opp...

Please explain the rationale of illegal shovels. OK - Profit The dealers and traffickers profit from the black market's high profit margin. The politicians profit from having a whipping boy to distract people from other issues. And, if you believe they are not saints then by direct and indirect bri...

Me too. I feel a bit like Van Leeuwenhoek looking through his first microscope. (Kiteman on 3/29/09 this thread) So you see that whatever the field nulls at the magnet's midplane are, the electrons will never get to them except in the very short slot in the center. And at that point there is NO META...

If we could get kids to avoid huffing solvents and drinking alcohol and instead get them smoking pot we would come out ahead.
a Head? ouch! very punny.

When I was in Victoria (not Vancouver but pretty close) even in the worst parts of town I got the impression that even if I were mugged they would say please and thank you. eh? I don't think you realize how easy you've got it from the larger perspective. I have always been impressed by the civility ...

Here is the top view of the crescent shaped filed null that we predicted. Notice that it is inside the magrid casing. I'm not sure whether this is a problem or an opportunity. http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm317/tombo1234/X-Cusp_B_Field_5_Top_Cusp_detail.png ^^^---many layers of vectors shown 1...

Apology accepted. No problem. I get in a hurry sometimes too. Much of the cross section is required for cooling and insulating and mechanical structure. So doubling the number of wires does not anywhere near double the cross section of the Magrid's can. Let alone the diameter. That drawing was not i...

It is a gradual degradation over several steps: the CAD rendered bmp is fuzzier than the drawing, then the picture in photobucket is fuzzier than viewing it directly locally. Talk-polywell is about the same resolution as photobucket and jpg is about the same as bmp. I should take some time to unders...

Modeling just the hole (with at .01 by .03 resolution) I see the vectors behaving reasonably well near the long crossovers. Those long, close-together crossovers dominate the fields in the area even more thoroughly than I had thought they would. But, near the short crossovers they dive nearly straig...
