C-2W operations have now reached a mature level where the machine can produce hot, stable, long-lived, and repeatable plasmas in a well-controlled manner.

Re: EMC2 news

If the homework isn´t done and ample motivation is provided to show why a polywell is a good project to pursue, begging on kickstarter will just discredit both kickstarter and the polywell

Re: EMC2 news

The Helion company and TAE both had small government funding in the beginning. At some point someone must have made an argument that field reversed configuration is a good idea that should be tried. If possible, so could also be done for the Polywell. Which is far easier to say than to do. Of course...

Re: EMC2 news

Why bother with crowdfunding? If you have the competence to run a meaningful Polywell project you also have the competence to produce a good application for a research grant. Large sums are being handed out to vastly more esoteric research topics than the energy needs of the human race. So a few mil...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

Science Media stay aloof for a reason. How many can it be that understand field reversed configurations good enough to make predictions of any value at all? How many of them has been enough hands on with the nuts and bolts of the Helion project to forecast its chances of success? I tell you, even th...

Re: Jäderberg future power - Swedish fusion startup

Fresh article in computer weekly: https://www.computerweekly.com/feature/Computer-simulations-show-Swedish-fusion-initiative-could-have-global-impact The solution Novatron aims to build is an axisymmetric tandem mirror (ATM) that combines two basic fusion concepts – magnetic mirrors and biconic cusp...

Re: Realta Fusion - Mirrors with HTS end plugging - another startup

Would this include this forum's namesake? I don't know of a single person here who wouldn't want to see a Polywell roar back to life. To the best of my knowledge the high voltage feedthrough is a statement on X from the Avalanache Energy corporation and no published artifact. The name Moein Borghei...

Re: Realta Fusion - Mirrors with HTS end plugging - another startup

I said it many times. With availability of High Field HTSC magnets almost any fusion design presented in the last 50 years will become feasible. Economical and practical? That will be the real issue that will determine the winner. Well, there has been to many promises over the years and to many del...

Re: Small Tri Alpha news blurp

Direct Air Capture is a really really bad idea. It is better to use the power directly to replace coal electricity. Once you have the enough power to convert carbon dioxide into something useful there are ample point sources that provide it cheaper. Blast furnaces, waste incineration, cement product...

Re: Lyten - Lithium Sulfur Battery

Interesting though that the article stresses manufacturing advantages, but none of the others that were predicted before, such as faster charge time and extended range. I wonder whether they've backed off on those.
If a battery engineer omits data it is for a reason.
