Re: "Former fusion scientist on why we won't have fusion power by 2040"

With the advent of new commercially available 20T magnets brings me hope. But that huge barrier of no funding is still the 400 pound gorilla in the room. "Performance of this magnet is similar to a non-superconducting one that was used in an MIT experiment that concluded its experiments five years a...

Re: We lost so many members :(

We are still out here, waiting, watching, and wondering what comes next and can we overcome the roadblock by "high pressure fusion"

Re: Extraterrestrial colony companies

I put the break even price at about 3500 dollars for 65 seats. Is it worth 3 hours of your time? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but most definably cheaper than the concord. A transatlantic flight required the high-maintenance concord aircraft to gulp jet fuel at the rate of one ton per seat, and the average round-trip p...

Re: NASA reports on something called lattice confinement fusion

If it just gets warm it would be a boost to deep space exploration. Like a RTG, as a portable heat source.

Re: New weapon?

I would think people would be talking about the new intercepter howitzer round, can not kill you if it can't get to you. A U.S. Army howitzer successfully engaged a simulated cruise missile, shooting it down with a projectile traveling at Mach 5. https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/weapons/a33...

Re: Signs of life on Venus

Even if it's a microbial life form, it has to eat something in order to survive. What would that be? The bacteria in hydrothermal vents are chemolithotrophs. These bacteria use sulfur, as sources of energy to reduce carbon dioxide to organic carbon. I can see venus being one big stewpot for this ty...

Re: Diamonds turn nuclear waste into nuclear batteries

In 2016 it was proposed that carbon-14 in a diamond crystal structure could be used as a longer lived betavoltaic device (a diamond battery). It was proposed that the carbon-14 could be sourced from graphite blocks from decommissioned graphite-moderated reactors. [6] In 2018 a Russian design based o...

one would logically assume that if it could read your mind and you can control external object by it the reverse could be true.
That is how I/O systems work.
