Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

Nearly 400,000 views on the Helion video! Unbelievable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GJtGpvE1sQ I still remember when 10 years ago any fusion video was hardly getting 100 views.... times are indeed changing and interest is really growing. If Helion can indeed start to show some meaningful resul...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024

Moreover, Musk's solar and battery business is at high risk once commercial fusion news hits, so I see it as being disingenuous to misrepresent fusion progress. I am not found of doing business in this way. Even if commercial fusion demonstration was to hit the news tomorrow there are plenty of iss...

"As will be shown, for all operating conditions above 20 keV, a high-beta D-He-3 FRC outperforms a low-Beta D-T plasma in terms of electrical and fusion power output."

Do I buy popcorn?
Too early for popcorn, it is still only a theoretical analysis.

Re: News story summarizing current contenders

That's the first time I've heard of Helicity Space. I couldn't find anything of substance on their website. Looks like they just threw up a PP. They are mainly focusing on space engines based on a phenomena called "Magnetic Helicity". If you are interested to know more we discussed about their idea...

Re: General Fusion in the news

Finance and science guys running a company that makes big industrial machines for the first time = delay. This I agree that can also be a possibility. I don't think so on either count. It is a big mechanical machine lots of pistons to synchronize, electronics, machine work to high tolerance This on...

Otherwise, yeah I guess the investors were not too happy considering that others are having much more ambitious schedules.
Another cause could be that the result of increased scaling are not going the way they extrapolated from the models derived from previous experiments.

Re: Is the Big Bang theory really in trouble?

You beat me to the post, and you raised an interesting point: I find the current theories and extensions of physics such as dark matter, dark energy, string theory to all be math looking for relevance. In addition, the age of the universe being a short 14 billion years seems a huge assertion given t...

Re: Is the Big Bang theory really in trouble?

I would say more, not only we are finally getting over the puny Big Bang theory, but we will soon get rid of Dark Energy and Dark Matter too. The problem of the last 50 years has been a blind crusade to twist astronomical observations to make them fit our belief, instead of questioning these belief ...

Just hoping the results match the models.
That's where the real issue is....
I am crossing fingers for them, but even if they fail with this iteration, the new knowledge gained should be enough to definitively prove or disprove the tech feasibility.

Re: First Light Fusion News

Looks like ignorant people with money, toss out the word 'Fusion', say neutrons, climate change, and the magic money jumps into the hat. I was thinking to go public with my new crypto-fusion reactor. Instead of generating useless neutrons and energy my technology will transform any suitable fuel di...

Re: First Light Fusion News

Uhm... they just got $45M in February 2022 and (as far as we know) they only proved that "some" neutron was generated.

They are pretty far from any major breakthrough to ask for additional $400M.....

Re: Kronos Energy - simulations only?

This is so funny, thank you for posting it. It has been a long time since I read such a soup of meaningless mumble jumble! Kronos Fusion Energy utilizes quantum computers with machine learning, artificial intelligence, and neural networks to create algorithms to simulate the optimal design for the w...

Re: Video from Renaissance Fusion

They seem to be wanting to re-invent the HTSC manufacturing process. Yes, and this is where all their potential is. I also doubt they will be able to realize a 45 cm thick wall of flowing lithium the way they envisioned, but if they can pull off the that HST manufacturing process (and I do not see ...
