The question of scaling

Perhaps someone can point me to a thread where scaling has already been hashed to death. If not, then consider the following: Quoting from page 5 of the paper, EMC2-0491-03 Electron Recirculation in Electrostatic Multicusp Systems …, by Robert W. Bussard and Katherine E. King, approved for public re...

Packaging the BFR as a deliverable product.

Do Bussard Fusion Reactors fit the construction model of manufactured homes? Manufactured homes are delivered in a few truck loads (single wide, double wide, triple wide) then assembled on site. If BFRs fit that model, we could convert the USA to fusion electric in just a few years. Could BFR's be i...

Do you suppose that the political conventions are in the way

No news. Maybe everyone with contacts is watching politics these two weeks. Does anyone have any better, more precise time frame than "August?"

Do these reactors fit the construction model of manufactured homes? If so, we could convert the USA to fusion electric in just a few years. Could BFR's be inventoried and sold from the "show room" floor? How big would the largest piece be? As a delivery model, consider that FEMA dumped at least 250 ...

Free energy? Well, maybe so, but not Zero utility bills. Look at your electric bill carefully. It depends on your utility company but many, if not most Utilities charge a delivery fee per kwh, which is almost equal to the cost of electricity per kwh. The cost of maintaining the grid will not go away...

Generally, BFR effeciencies.

This is an interesting sales presentation for the BFR. Maybe it should be in "General" ?

Well, maybe you look like a spammer, but if your user name was "IM for best price on Viagra," then you might really look like a spammer. And we get an extra line of text, think of what can be done with that! Take a look at the member list to see what spammer's really look like. All of those pending ...

Yes, I do agree also. Secrecy can at best give only a short term advantage. Once it's known to work, it can be built from scratch by any number of states/organizations. Secrecy would buy the navy a lot more time than it will buy EEStor, I think though. Consider that if a BFR were built inside an air...

So it powers the Star Ship Enterprise or maybe the Millenium Falcon, but not an X-wing fighter. And space pleasure yatchs will be EXPENSIVE, or at least BIG.

The third option would be (assuming the inventor was getting filthy rich on licensing fees for the reactor) private funding of spaceflight. This particular pipe dream exists only in an unpublished novella. Tom - How does Virgin Galactic size up wrt this pipe dream? Or maybe one of the other space e...

Look at the Wikipedia information on EEStor where it gives links to the patent descriptions. A screen printing process to make the 'Electrical Energy Storage Units' has been patented. The world patent is described here: http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/en/wo.jsp?wo=2006026136&IA=WO2006026136&DISPLAY=DESC E...

Unfortuantely, financial is not the only advantage to be garnered from secrecy regarding Polywell fusion. Strategic advantage is probably a higher consideration at ONR. That's just my opinion, because there are other advantages to be considered. We know about politics. Who derives the most political...

Polywell is brand new cutting edge stuff (even if it was conceived over 20 years ago.) Nope. The current design was conceived about 3 years ago. I believe you've made my point. Polywell has been under R&D contract for much longer than 3 years, yet the current design is only about 3 years old. It's ...
