Wow.

Is this legit? If so, I'm honestly pretty dumbfounded.

Mr. Fission?

If everyone overproduces, we might see oil drop to $20-30/bbl again. Wanna make a bet? I'll accept paypal. There are all kinds of oil substitutes that become very attractive at ~ $50/bbl - ethanol, coal>methanol, propane, electric vehicles. There's also new sources that become viable at that price,...

Bah. Oil prices might be low at the moment, but they won't stay there. I could easily see oil rocketing up to 300$ a barrel next year.

Jared Diamond's theories work extremely well up to the point a society moves past tribalism into statehood. At that point, how the society behaves (culture) becomes paramount. There was nothing stopping China from colonizing North America. Except the emperor and his court. I'm not going to try and ...

The powers of the government are somewhat limited in that regard. They can't prevent discussion of information already in the public. If they tried to shut down this forum, I'm sure that the EFF and the ACLU would love to hear about it. True, I was just trying to incite discussion as to how far the...

Polywell was open source before this board went up.
Didn't know that. Thank you.

But it still doesn't really answer my question. You don't think the government would ever feel inclined to restrict information about polywell fusion in the future? Out of fear or ignorance?

Talk-Polywell to be shut down by the government

Just kidding. But seriously, how many think this is likely if polywell fusion proves to be a success? There has been much discussion about government intervention in the development of fusion reactors here. Hypothetically, suppose the US decides that it wants to get a jump on its biggest c...

Hey Joe, we found something to agree on! I read Kurzweil's "The Singularity is Near" a few years ago and was blown away. His internet videos are great, too. I'm not sure how qualified I am to judge is point of view but he sure is convincing. BS werd. I'm no where near qualified to judge his predict...

So easy depends a lot on technology. And politics. Solving the technology problem is a lot easier than solving the political problem. We have about 1/2 the world throwing up their hands and saying "What's the use? We are doomed." I find that answer unacceptable. Great point. I definately agree. So....

Sure production will peak when 1/2 the oil is gone. We are not there yet. But that's not what the theory states. It does not peak when half the oil is gone, it peaks when the vast majority of easy to reach, easy to refine oil has been consumed. Even biased organizations like ASPO state that there i...

Peak oil is an economic theory.
Let's resize this debate to Hubberts theory.

Since people here seem to like wikipedia, here's the link:

WE ARE NOT RUNNING OUT OF OIL ANYTIME SOON. This statement is NOT HELPING YOUR CASE, ONLY MAKING YOU SOUND UNINFORMED, and IS SPOT OFF..... Where does the theory of peak oil say we are running out of oil, dammnit? PEAK OIL DOES NOT MEAN WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF OIL, ONLY THAT PRODUCTION WILL. T...

QUICK NOTE!

Before I dragg this off into a pointless argument, I'll stop. But I'd still like to hear more opinions, agree or not!

For now.
