Re: LENR Is Real
Since no one has seen this yet I will kick off the next round of debate http://matslew.wordpress.com/2014/10/08/new-scientific-report-on-the-e-cat-shows-excess-heat-and-nuclear-process/ Looks like the 2nd report that has been talked about is out(not sure if this is the final version or preprint). LE...
Re: EM Drive
Have you read Woodward's book? Am I the one who's got the peanut gallery's attention? no but if your interested in why Rodal and a few others on NSF are mistaken at least in their provided analysis the Book is a good starting point. That said, as thrust er said above. Rodal's concern is with using ...

Re: Lawaranceville E-Newsletter
Implicit in this is obviously they're planning to vaporize Be, which is highly toxic. I can see why they'd put that off a bit. umm why is this a valid implicit assumption?? from everything they have published. One of their goal is to drastically reduce the amount of vaporization of the electrodes, ...

Re: SpaceX News
What I am hearing is spacex bid was much lower than the total size of the contract.GIThruster wrote:I'm not following how the contract seems fair. I thought Boeing hadn't even man rated their rocket yet. IIUC, they still don't have a gantry for the Delta. Why did they get such a large piece of the pie?
Re: EM Drive
I would just note though, that for a commercial grade M-E thruster, you really do want a Colossal Dielectric Constant (CDC) material (k=>5,000) that maintains its constant up into very high frequencies. Paul wasn't looking at that stuff despite I did recommend some to him. Can you share the name of...
Re: EM Drive
I would never pretend to speak for Paul, but I can relate to you what his positions have been in the past. Last I heard, he was still maintaining he believed that Sonny's QVF model and Jim's M-E model were opposite sides of the same coin, despite Jim, Sonny and myself keep arguing this cannot be tr...
Re: EM Drive
sounds like a reasonable reason. However, I really hope that more experiments are done on the ME devices.
Re: EM Drive
Since aceshigh inadvertently pushed this conversation over to NASA Spaceflight :D. I found something interesting over there. So the paper that cause the recent stir of excitement and lazy reporting was from a 2013 test campaign, that tested the Cannae device and a version of Shawyers tapered frustum...

Re: More Helion Energy news....
So, while I am writing up my summary of the interview (that was a long conversation there, thanks so much to Dave for his time!), I will just jump in here to say that according to Dave, their reactors do scale very well. The 50 MWe was chosen for a first generation power plant for economic and prac...
Re: EM Drive
Here is a talk Dr. White gave at the Mars Society Convention on August 8. He covers what I assume is the latest news on the Warp field tests, along with the information from the tests on the Cannae and EmDrive replica reported in the AIAA paper from July 30 2014.

Re: More Helion Energy news....
I get your point djolds1. I think I would like to believe that ,at least in the aneutronic case. That if the technology is made available, then some enterprising business person looking to make money will take it up and run with it. Assuming a significant reduction in capital costs for the power pla...

Re: More Helion Energy news....
Maybe. One weakness is that fusion will be trying to slot itself into already established fields - electricity power generation, aerospace, etc. Lots of established interests to gum up the works. I am not so sure I would agree with you on this for all fusion devices. I think the D+D and D+T devices...
Re: em drive
Actually, the funding of Sonny and Paul's early Shawyer resonator work was not "pulled" per se. It ran its course and ended. They had appealed to Gary Hudson for funding and their project ran its course. During the attempt what they realized was they were unable to pull the kind of vacuum necessary...
Re: em drive
Excuse you, but don't lecture me about my assumptions while you're busy making assumptions. You sound ridiculous. I don't have any need to present arguments nor evidence that comes to what you are proposing is the proper standard. When I say for example, that Sonny and Paul built a Shawyer resonato...
Re: em drive
I don't know if anyone other than GiThruster is interested in Mach Effect Thrusters. but it looks like Woodward published a book explaining the theory in 2012. Bought it a few days ago since i read that the proceeds are being used to fund additional investigations. I must say while this is heavy on ...
