Yes, but should have relatively less contact with the coolant N2, confusing the issue. Should have just used a copper tape with the same dimensions.
That is a fair point.

I'm sure James Randi would be suspicious about the copper being double the thickness, what with cooling being germane, and all... but I'm not really that sceptical! Can't wait to watch the superconducting follow-on to ST-40.
Well a thicker cable should have less resistance, no?

Re: Tokamak Energy news

New video showing how they are testing their HTSC cables:
Also shows quite neatly how differently they behave from copper cables:

Totally agree!
Hillarious! I think their steam generator thing is going to be the same as Rossi's container thingy was (how many years ago again?).

Ok, so this one is funny:

Notice something?
The longer it runs, the lower the net energy gain. Why is that? The skeptic in me is immediately suspicious that something shady is going on here.

Re: More Helion Energy news....

I read before that there were some issues that was pointed out in their phase 2 NIAC final report. I will try to find it and read it when I have some free time. IIRC, there were some (surmountable) issues with the liner symmetry. The only issue I see in transforming it into a direct fusion drive, i...

Re: More Helion Energy news....

If I remember well the research on the Fusion Driven Rocket of MSNW slowed down quite a lot from their initial phase 2 NIAC grant. They probably hit some technological/physical limit that prevented further development. I didn't know that Dr. Cohen had a working prototype. Is than an "engine" protot...

Re: More Helion Energy news....

In honor of truth, nothing interesting has ever happened on the fusion space propulsion front, apart from financing toward academic efforts to foresee potential use of fusion reaction as a propulsion medium. Unfortunately most of these (and future) works do not have any real potential to ever be de...

@Helion_Energy May 11 There are some interesting things happening again on the fusion space propulsion front. Hopefully more information to be released soon. Helion team knows fusion, and this tweet is not an idle comment. Anyone have any idea what Helion might be working on in space propulsion? Ch...

Re: Z-Pinch Renaissance

ZAP just got more an additional 27.5 million in series B funding, adding to the 6.5 million they got in series A and the money they got from ARPA-E. That is some serious funding now for bending metal. I hope this will accelerate their development. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/2021051900554...

Re: More Helion Energy news....

TAE's confinement time is until the neutral beam is shut off and that is a limitation of their experimental machine (takes a lot of power to run those Megawatt injectors). Confinement time is not a limitation of their process. No, that is plasma lifetime, not confinement time. Confinement time is h...
