The wikipedia entry is interesting, but that doesn't seem like something that could be used to power a commercial aircraft. Or could it?

How would a BFR produce thrust? I can imagine one on a C-130 using electric power to turn props, but other than that, what are the other options? I think I have seen some references to rocket power and such, but I cannot imagine how that would work. I think some of this was covered on this site, but...

What have I missed the mark by a mile on? I agree that any candidate will go 100% on this tech if it proves true. Perhaps you mean my interpretation of “lefty” and “righty?” Well, in this case anyway, those I labeled “lefty” almost all want to vote for Obama and those I labeled “righty” almost all w...

The vehemence of each side is what disturbs me. They think Polywell is like cold fusion or perpetual motion. Why would they even have an opinion; but when I bring up the candidates, there is no middle ground in their opinions. The candidate they don’t like is not just wrong, but VERY wrong. The wors...

Best for POTUS if Polywell works
Not sure if this is pushing the limit of the forum, but here goes: who do you think would be the best US President to have if Polywell pans out? The few people I speak to about Polywell (everyone I know thinks I’m nuts for bothering to follow Polywell development), think the following: 1. McCain: a....

From what I read, most of the folks at IBM didn’t really get the idea of the PC in 1979. But what if you could go back in time to the late 1970’s as a mid-level IBM executive? You know what is going to happen with Microsoft and Apple. What would you do? Try and stop it? Try and get IBM to compete? S...

djolds1, And what is the defining politics of those effete snobs? Communism/socialism - tax the rich heavily or steal them out of existence. It is not fin-cap oriented. In fact they are great beneficiaries of fin-cap without lifting a finger, creating a job, or doing anything economically useful. P...

<snip> Its one of the reasons I want to build my own village/town, provide very low cost rented housing so even the poorest can stand a chance to get a roof over their head, rather than having to squeese 50+ people into a 3 bedroom home just to afford to pay the rent. <snip> (As such, a Technocrati...

Farm workers in America are pretty well paid. I have heard of rates around $16 or $17 an hour. <snip> MSimon Again, I think I agree with much of what you say. Holy smoke, what gives!? The Mexican government has somehow made one of the all time worst blunders in human history. They are next door to ...

The American "Empire" is about obtaining access. It is not a mercantilist or colonial empire. <snip> As to American decline? It has been predicted for a very long time. It is doubtful the latest predictions will be any better than the previous ones. MSimon I think I might agree with you on most of ...
