Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Great minds etc.
Great. Now I have a tingling up my leg.

Chris Matthews, call your office.

One guess about whether Maui will perceive our comments to be an immediately valid criticism, or a "talking point".

Nor do they want a corporate board doing the same. Guess what? It's part of insurance public or private.
You must take us for morons. If a private insurance company screws up, you can sue them.

If they pay up per policy, they haven't screwed up.

BTW, ever hear of sovereign immunity?

Huh? Obama recently said the public option is not even an "essential element". Only to try to get the townhall attendees to stay home. Before that it was essential. Was Obama lying then or now? You guys need to chill out. Nobody is taking away your insurance. Nobody. Breathe. That's exactly what he...

I think we know--dead bang  --how to benefit directly from fusion bombs as energy producers. Dig a big hole deep in the ground, with an airlock, suspend the bomb inside a thick water jacket in the middle of the cavern, set it off... ...run turbines off the steam for a week... do it again... an...

Hornets aren't very nice insects, do you really want to become hornets?
I'm sure you've seen the Gadsden Flag?

I'm fine with being a rattlesnake.

So the conclusion that the CO2 we are adding to the atmosphere is making the world warmer than it would be otherwise seems at least as solid as your statement that CO2 helps plants. To propose a mechanism which makes this out to be a naive assumption: CO2 in greater concentrations traps impinging s...

when the exhaust valve opens on an engine, the pressure in the chamber is a substantial amount of pressure, and every exhaust from the cylinder throws away this unutilized energy! While I hope not to be pointlessly snarky, there's this thing, it's called a turbocharger. To take that to an unworkabl...

eh? This is the rocket equation.

The quicker your propellant, the less efficient is the flight. I'm sure I'm misunderstanding your statement. Rockets propulsion is always more efficient the faster the velocity of the exiting fuel is, and it never matters to Isp how quickly you go through your fuel. Vexhaust X ln(fueled/empty) = de...

a brief thought experiment

The simplest grid which could be magnetically shielded would be a single coil, correct? Has anyone modeled what happens to a highly (electrostatically) charged single coil in a hydrogen plasma? If the chamber walls were far enough away from the charged surface, they don't hit the walls at any especi...

Kunkmeister brought up the "real economic reasons" for the war; the phrase in scare quotes because it is frequently used by persons who want to minimize the very great extent to which the war was simply caused by people doing a great evil who wanted to keep on doing a great evil, and who had no lega...

Half of us are of below average intelligence,...

..now we know which half. And ad nauseum! Or at this point is it absurdum? And we know a few Republicans who need to see primaries where they are opposed by the national party. Like I scrawled on their begging slip back at the RNC, "Support Toomey or you won't see a red cent from me." Regards, Tom P...

The tragic party.

Hands down the worst president is Buchanan. He failed to to re-iterate Jackson's threat to the secessionists, failed to reinforce the national army's position in the south, failed to re-locate any movable national assets to the north, and even inexplicably transferred military stores to the south in...
