Any cost is significantly more than free. Millions of square miles are in agriculture, and we don't need that room. It is not cost effective to provide hydroponics for bulk crops, but vegetables and vine fruits might be practical. The advantage of an underground completly controlled environment is ...

Just because a cost doesn't show up on a companies balance sheet doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. It just means that the rest of society pays it for the company. And all the ways we profit from oil (increased forests due to mechanized chemical agriculture for one - or the reduction in electrical...

most nations aren't willing to use the most environmentally destructive methods, quite rightly in fact. In fact it is just the opposite. Most nations run by corruptocrats are willing to use the most environmentally destructive methods. And yes - getting off oil is a good thing. It will take about h...

Bremsstrahlung and Focus Fusion

I was recently watching a few videos from Focus Fusion and it occurred to me, Why can't Polywell fusion use the same type of Bremsstrahlung absorption that Focus Fusion is developing? As I understand it, it is a photo voltaic effect using many layers of thin foil which gradually absorbs the energy, ...

What do you win that way? Thats right: Nothing! Peak... you get peak power. Solar especially tends to top out right along with peak power consumption. In addition PV and small wind turbines reduce the need for long distance power cables. Plus, Coal, Oil, Natural Gas and Nuclear are all heavily subs...

So, if we figure out how to move the planet with a heim gravity drive or woodward inertial drive, we can stay in the habitable zone (might have to put another drive on Mars and fly it out of the way, though). How do we deal with the core cooling? Anyone got any ideas about injecting more uranium, o...

"But while about 30% think the current law goes to far, 30% think it doesn't go far enough!" Except that's not true. It's not that popular. More people oppose it than support it, and four times as many people strongly oppose it as strongly support it. It's a dead dog only a yellow dog could vote fo...

Re: Looks like it will be a Slaughter in November...

What happens to a political party that does something they know ahead of time that about 60% of the people do not want, and where the strong feelings run about 4 to 1 against? But while about 30% think the current law goes to far, 30% think it doesn't go far enough! So when the law passes, individu...

What is your life worth? Can you be compensated for your life with money? Were you to lose your head in a car crash, would it make any difference to you whether the accident was your fault or the other guy's? My life is worth about 2.14 million. I will probably average out making around 150K a year...

We have been successfully in doing what? Surviving? Just for the love of making an example, ants and mosquitos have been on this planet from much before than our race, and will be probably on this planet much after our departure. Thats easy...The true measure of a species success is the number of B...

I wonder if a similar arrangment of depleted uranium nanorods and embedded DU nanospheres might lead to more mass-efficient gamma-ray shields. Maybe stacking several layers of the same. Hmm, if it could absorb Gamma and turn it into electricity it could also do Bremsstrahlung from the polywell sinc...
