Re: Mach Effect progress
Unsure; he appears in videos with Dr. Woodward in 2021. He may simply have been unavailable for the interview.

Re: Mach Effect progress
1h30min TLDW ? Dr. Woodward reviewed his theory, Mach's Principle, his test apparatus, including improvements made, and his data, then Michelle Broyles came on, describes her initial skepticism, then goes through her separate test setup and improvements thereto, and discusses her results, including...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
Quite frankly, I think that (unlike what many people perceive) fusion has been less of a science problem than an engineering problem for maybe 3 decades now. At least for Toks, we knew that we would (very likely) be able to build one that would make energy. But the problem is making it economic wit...

Re: Fusion to be regulated by Part 30, like particle Accelerators
If this pans out, it's good news for the entire industry, and shows that at least someone at the NRC has their head on straight.

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
I actually believe Musk is fully aware of the real progress of Helion due to his friendship with Peter Thiel who is a venture capital investor in Helion (Thiel's association with Musk goes back to PayPal). Moreover, Musk's solar and battery business is at high risk once commercial fusion news hits,...

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
Elon Musk at it again (on Twttr) acting as if Fusion will not be practical, then hawking solar & batteries, which he sells coincidentally, as if they are the only practical solution. This IMO borders on dishonesty. I provided links to Helion, Zap, GF, TAE to start with. Not that I'm defending him, ...

Re: 2020 compared with 1920
I wouldn't count the ICE out just yet. Liquid fuels still have a far higher energy density than batteries (which have their own significant environmental issues), and the technology exists now to do both point-of-generation AND ambient atmospheric carbon capture, which can be driven by fusion power,...

Re: Kronos Energy - simulations only?
My pleasure, glad someone got a laugh out of it. I, too, saw that first line and had to chuckle.

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
This video fails to explore why the government researchers act with such pessimistic ignorance; could it be their multi deca-billion dollar, multi decade research contracts would be at risk of being defunded? This is typical with government research in general, and not just in fusion. The self-lick...

Kronos Energy - simulations only?
I ran across this today:
https://www.globenewswire.com/en/news-r ... Texas.html
It's not a company I've heard talked about here. It doesn't sound like they have an actual device, just some simulations.

Re: EMC2 news
Has there been any news on EMC2/Polywell lately? I would hate to think site's namesake has finally gone under without ever really having a chance to prove itself.

Re: Helion Energy to demonstrate net electricity production by 2024
I have first hand experience in the semiconductor industry with turbopumps pumping down to the uTorr range, regularly. No cryo-trap needed. Having a molecular mean-free path on the order of meters is necessary for transistor fabrication. I've also seen what happens when the bearings fail. The blades...

Introduction: haven't done this in a while
Hello, everyone! I've lurked here for going on 15(-ish?) years, ever since I first became aware of the Polywell. Finally decided I should sign up. About me: chemical engineer, space nut, general computer nerd and amateur machining/woodworking enthusiast. I like to make stuff. I have to say, having u...
